Using the Hotspot Tool in the Crater™ Editor -- Part 2

01:26
Welcome to the second video about Hotspot tools. This time, we’ll show you how to use hotspot tools for pop-up media, HTML popups, email addresses, and Youtube videos. The last one I’m going to show you is the Youtube video popup. This video will appear on your publication so readers can watch it directly from there, saving room on the page, too. Configuring your Publication with the Crater™ Editor

01:35
In this video, we will show you how to create a new publication based on what kind of publication you wish to create. When you are in your Magazines, click Add new issue. If you’re using a PDF file or a template, go to the Create blank tab and specify the spread type, page size, and orientation of your new publication. Also, consider how readers will navigate through your publication. They can either flip or slide to each page. Pick an option under the Viewer tab. For a magazine, we recommend a double-spread, portrait orientation with flipping pages, so it’s like readers are flipping through a print magazine. For presentations, we recommend single-spread, landscape orientations with sliding pages. For newspapers, consider long pages. When you’re in the Editor, you can adjust the height of each page as well. For brochures, you can choose a portrait or landscape orientation with either flipping or sliding animations. For photo albums, we recommend a square or landscape orientation with double-spread pages that flip. For a newsletter, we recommend a portrait orientation with a single-spread page that slides. Changing the Background Color of Your Publication

00:51
In this video, we will show you how to change the background color of your publication. For this page, I want to change the background color to a darker one so that the white text I’ve written will be visible. Using the “Shapes” tool, I’ll draw a rectangle that’s as big as the page. Then I’ll go to the color box and pick the color to fill the shape with. Now, I’m going to right-click the shape and send it all the way to the back so that it’s set as the background. Save your changes when you’re done. In this video, we will show you how to enable subscription settings for your publication. From the Dashboard, select the desired publication. Then click the Edit settings button on the top toolbar. Go to the “Subscription” tab next. Here we have 3 different options for you to choose from. If you’re creating a standalone publication that only has one issue, you might not want to enable a subscription for it, so you can choose the “No subscription” option. If you’re just starting out and want to build your reader base, you can enable a Free subscription for your publication. Using the Grids Tool in the Crater™ Editor

01:10
In this video, we’ll show you how to use our editor’s Grid tool. Grids will help keep elements on a page aligned, and your page design clean and consistent. To start, navigate to the right toolbar and select the Grids tool. You’ll see here that you can add a baseline grid or document grid. The baseline grid resembles ruled notebook paper and does not apply to page borders. A document grid looks like graph paper and fills up the entire editor workspace, borders included. To reveal grids, simply check the “Show” option. You can also customize the increments of your grids. Another useful tool is the Snap to grid tool, located under the Grid tool toolbar. By checking this box, all elements on a page will automatically snap to the gridline. Linking a Custom Domain

01:20
This video will show you how you can replace your publication’s randomly generated URL with your own custom domain. First, select this Globe icon at the top of the publication page. Next, you can enter your domain name and select a registrar that it’s connected to. You can purchase a domain name from a website such as godaddy.com, register.com or name.com, or you can link one that you’ve already purchased. Make sure to update the domain’s DNS records so that it points to Joomag’s IP address. For this video, I’m going to use a domain that is already connected to Joomag. Since it’s already connected, all I have to do now is “Pay to activate” it. You can choose to connect your domain for $99 a year or for $9.95 a month. Once you’ve picked your subscription, go ahead with the payment. Now I’ve made the payment and everything is good to go. When I enter the link into the browser, the publication will pop up.
