Pecha Kucha Sydney 5 March 2012 Domenic Alvaro, Architect http://www.woodsbagot.com/en/Pages/DomenicAlvaro1.aspx Recognised as a new voice in Australian architecture, Domenic Alvaro is lead designer in the Sydney studio at Woods Bagot where he was principal designer of Ivy in Sydney, winner of the National AIA Harry Seidler Award for Commercial Architecture and NSW AIA Lloyd Rees Medal for Outstanding Urban Design. Small House is an exciting example of urban consolidation and an innovative case study in precast concrete living space construction. Small House builds upwards, rather than outwards, employing a number of design devices to make micro spaces more liveable in stark contrast to Sydney''s sprawling city. Karl Cooney & TMOD - Veggie Patch Food Van

07:07
Pecha Kucha Sydney 5 March 2012 Karl Cooney & TMOD, Veggie Patch Food Truck https://www.facebook.com/VeggiePatchVan The Veggie Patch is a collaboration between a design studio, TMOD and a restaurant Yulli's, creating accessible restaurant quality food with an innovative artistic edge. All owners of the Veggie patch live and work within the boundaries of the City of Sydney council and have resided our whole lives in Sydney. The Veggie Patch is devoted to providing high quality vegetarian food using seasonal produce sourced from local growers. The enterprise's whole foods philosophy extends on the 'paddock to plate' movement ensuring the delivery of minimally processed, full flavoured cuisine aimed at reconnecting growers with diners. The van's artwork resembles a farm barn house surrounded by a veggie patch and is a nod to this idea. The team behind The Veggie Patch is determined to keep its environmental impact to an absolute minimum, and hope to continually discover new and innovative ways of achieving this. All waste produced including packaging is compostable, solar panels power the cooking, and the van itself runs on recycled vegetable oil. Editor: http://www.3dots.com.au/
