Makerere University in conjunction with the University of Kentucky in the US have designed a mechanism that converts bamboo stems into wood vinegar that is mainly sold in Japan and other parts of Asia. The lead researcher Prof. Noble Banadda from the Department of Agricultural Engineering says through the technology, farmers in Uganda could have access to organic pesticides.
