Rescue of the Green Lily

06:24
A retelling of the heroic rescue of the Green Lily by the crew of Lerwick Lifeboat Station. Coxswain Hewitt Clark received a Gold Medal and his crew Bronze Medals, for their role. Tragically, Coastguard winchman Bill Deacon, who was swept from the deck by a huge wave after rescuing ten people, died in the rescue. The RNLI has recognised his courage with a posthumous Thanks on Vellum, with a joint Vellum also going to the remainder of the aircraft’s crew. Footage from the Coastguard, STV and Lerwick Lifeboat Station.

Dutch Barge Sea Crossing Safety Checks

03:36
It is hoped this will help you to stay safe. Your barge has probably been working the inland waterways for many years and now you are asking it to cross over the sea in rougher conditions. If you fail to get your fuel tanks cleaned there is a considerable chance that when your vessel starts to pitch and roll about in the swell the sludge which has resided for many years unmoved in the fuel tanks will explode into a thick goo that will block your filters and can even be thick enough to block the delivery pipe... Do not cut back on this area of your barges pre-sea crossing service as you not only endanger your barge but also the lives of the people on board. Stay safe and spend the money to have them cleaned out... Also see https://youtu.be/OuKcIFogh48 I hope you find this helpful. To contact Keith http://www.ngmarine.co.uk/

IMCA SEL 038 Mooring incidents

12:14
Mooring vessels is a routine, day to day operation familiar to most crew members. But familiarity can breed contempt and sometimes, seemingly ordinary, routine jobs don't get the full focus of attention they should and there are accidents, some of them very serious indeed. This IMCA video has been developed to help raise awareness of the need for safety awareness in mooring practice. It covers some real mooring incidents and explains how things went wrong and how things can be done in the correct way. It explains some important principles for safe mooring, including planning, communication, the proper use of PPE when at work on deck, and a full understanding of hazards such as bights and rope, and danger zones such as snap back zones and potential pinch points. Vessels moor and cast off every day. It's such a familiar, standard procedure that the temptation may be to treat it more lightly than other operations. Careful planning, risk assessments, good communications and a constant awareness of what's around you can all help to make the job safer for everyone concerned.

LRT „Gyvenimas“ laidų ciklas „Kruizas: Azija“ (1) HD

45:02
RMS TITANIC: The Lifeboats (1912)

07:39
More Info: http://wormstedt.com/titanic/lifeboats/lifeboats.htm Every discussion of TITANIC invariably leads to her lifeboats and the fact that they were few in number. It has often been implied that it was simply gross negligence on the part of her builders and the White Star Line. The truth is a bit more nuanced than that. The OLYMPIC class ships were built according to the latest thinking: a ship should be its own lifeboat. Setting a small, open boat adrift in the harsh North Atlantic wasn't considered an ideal life-saving measure. Instead of lifeboats TITANIC boasted watertight subdivision, a double bottom, and a powerful wireless set. The goal was to prevent her sinking and/or keep her afloat long enough for help to arrive. The lifeboats would only be needed to ferry passengers to a rescue ship. The successful rescue of passengers during the sinking of White Star's own RMS REPUBLIC in 1909 reinforced this theory. The ship was her own lifeboat. Unfortunately the events of April 14th/15th 1912 proved this line of thought flawed. For 1500 people there would be no ship, no lifeboats, and no rescue -- only an icy Atlantic grave. The SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) Convention requiring vessels to comply with minimum safety standards in construction, equipment, and operation was first adopted because of the TITANIC disaster. This includes the "Muster Station Drill" held at the beginning of modern cruises to this day. The RMS TITANIC is not merely a melodramatic film or an ancient piece of history: she's a perpetual presence in modern maritime safety. International Law explained by Hesham Elrafei | What are the sources of International Law?

02:36
What are the sources of International public law? Le droit international expliqué | Quelles sont les sources du droit international? By Hesham Elrafei https://www.linkedin.com/in/heshamelrafei Overview of the sources of international public law as stated in Article 38 of the international court of justice ICJ statute : treaty, customary law, courts decisions, jurisprudence and law principles. Sources of International Law , explained , simplified and visualized. Les sources du droit international public مصادر القانون الدولي وفقال لمادة 38 من النظام الأساسي لمحكمة العدل الدولية 1 What are the sources of international law? 2 The term ‘source of law’ refer to legal rules governing the international community. 3 Unlike national laws , where sources of law are specified in a norm superior to laws and regulations, usually a constitution, no such norm exists in international law. 4 The International Court of Justice, stipulated a catalogue of sources of international law, which is used when deciding legal disputes submitted before the world court. 5 the first source is international treaties, whether a general or particular treaty, a bilateral ,regional or multinational one, 6 a treaty is a binding international agreement. by which the countries are obliged to observe their contractual obligations. 7 the 2nd source is customary law. At the outset, international law was mainly constituted by customs. 8 which is by its nature, universal, whereas treaty law binds the parties to these treaties only 9 International custom consists of 2 elements: First is State practice, which means What generally States Do and Say. 10 Oppinio Juris is the 2nd element of customary law. It means that the state practice, has to be accepted as law, by the other states. 11 In addition to treaties and customs, other sources exist, such as Judicial decisions , juristic writings and general principles of law. 12 while they are not formal sources , they can still play an important role as an evidence of the law.

They fail before taking the exam and because they assume that they don't know . The successful people the other hand they don't know something they go find out and they going to read and understand . Dont know , ask and how they do it. They digest and so the difference successful and unsuccessful people. The person who doesn't know stop is unsuccessful and the person who doesn't know and go to find out become successful The second thing to understand unsuccessful people, when they think of certain things , I dont have the money for e-learning and the time to study and they stop. The successful people the same both at you but they took a chance and can make time . Go something else and go study and make that time. Dont invest the money , invest first and invest your cost . Make your effort and do it Dont get assume and you always be there . Now its turn to put yourself in the advance position . Make it happen The last thing you need; Unsuccessful says that I am not a smart and I cant do that . I am not type kind of person and stop. MINDSET - you got to have a positive mind set and here is the thing I learn. even you fail fail forward , you need to have a mind set in a positive way . Just get it done and get time to study . I need time to study. Have a positive mind set ASK don't ask the people . ask people who has been there and ask people how do I get there \what do I need to do . how do I need to overcome this situation ASK they realize they answers . When ASK they give you on what to do and the priority . This are the way that you can pass your exam and made that investment . Dont waste that money . Your family is waiting for your success.
Six Months At Sea In The Merchant Marine

22:05
In this short documentary, I tried to answer some of the common questions that I usually get about shipping. The footage I took myself using fairly basic cameras that I could fit in my pocket while I was on the job as a deckhand. The story follows me on a six month journey around the world on a container ship which was on a run between New York and Singapore via the Suez Canal. This was my first time going to sea on a large ship so everything was relatively new to me, therefore please excuse the couple of shipping terms I misused (such as saying "license" when I should have said "credential"). I have been on many ships since and will continue to ship out for the foreseeable future. Thanks for watching. International Safety Management Code (ISM)

04:55
The purpose of this Code is to provide an international standard for the safe management and operation of ships and for pollution prevention. The Code establishes safety-management objectives and requires a safety management system (SMS) to be established by "the Company", which is defined as the shipowner or any person, such as the manager or bareboat charterer, who has assumed responsibility for operating the ship. The Company is then required to establish and implement a policy for achieving these objectives. This includes providing the necessary resources and shore-based support. Every company is expected "to designate a person or persons ashore having direct access to the highest level of management". The procedures required by the Code should be documented and compiled in a Safety Management Manual, a copy of which should be kept on board. After completion of this part you should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding about the background of the ISM Code.
