How To Start Playing Magic: The Gathering - A Beginner's Guide To MTG

09:11
The Best Gaming Cases: http://youtu.be/2Aw3j3Mj5Ls A Guide To Playmats: http://youtu.be/0HOjmAB4WaA What Are The Best Binders: http://youtu.be/H5IauASYWjk The Best Card Sleeves: http://youtu.be/w-aAeIZSNWw How To Start Playing Magic: The Gathering - A Beginner's Guide The following is a 6 step guide to starting Magic: The Gathering from absolute scratch. This is not a video that teaches you how to play the game, but rather guides you in your purchases and decision making so that you can go from having never played Magic: The Gathering before, to being able to attend store events and regularly play games. Please note: As always, this video is only meant as guidance, not absolute rules. it is one path, one method of many, but it only a suggestion. It is designed with the goal of being able to play regularly at store events, but that may not be your own personal goal when it comes to Magic. Still, even if you are looking to achieve different things from this game, perhaps by seeing one path people can take, you might discover new ideas that help you meet your needs. The importance of friend or partner: If you'll allow me one more preamble, I'd like to stress the importance of having a friend or partner to play with. The most important thing you can do as a new player is...to play. Practice, practice, practice, and in order to do this, it helps to have a practice partner. Going into this game with a friend or lover is a huge advantage, as you'll always have someone to play with and learn with. I'm a major advocate of couples getting into Magic together, as it gives you both a fun and engaging activity that you can share with one another. If you don't know anyone who is interested in learning with you, or who already plays, don't despair. Magic is a highly social game. Hanging out at your local game store isn't just how you get in games, it is also how you meet people and make friends. So where do you begin from absolute scratch? Step 1: Buy Duels of the PlanesWalkers 2014 Step 2: Get 2 Quick Start Decks. Step 3: Join your store's league Step 4: Play a Draft Step 5: If a prerelease or launch is upcoming, attend. Step 6: Put your first standard deck together. Follow Walking the Planes on Twitter! - @WalkThePlanes It's a conspiracy! Few things in life are as fun as multiplayer Magic. Most people play at home, conspiring with and against their friends in a rich metagame. But the great thing about Magic is that you can play it anywhere! Every week, physics teacher Jordan Burkey of the Abington Friends School transforms his lab into a battlefield. Only, it's the friendliest, most welcoming battlefield this side of the Multiverse.

MTG - The Complete Casual, A Guide To Better and More Enjoyable Casual Magic: The Gathering Play

13:30
Part 1: Balance and Sealed Magic: The Gathering Products Despite the enormous amount of casual play that takes place, many casual Magic players experience frustration and difficulty while just trying to get in a fun game of Magic with their friends. When getting casual games with your friends, it is important that your decks are on the same level. So if you are playing with an old Zendikar Standard deck, make sure your friend is too. If you are playing with an Intro Pack, make sure your friend is as well, etc. This balance will improve the play experience dramatically. Imagine that Wizards of the Coast came out with a new product designed just for the best casual play experience. I'm going to call the hypothetical product, The Complete Casual. It's called the Complete Casual, because it has everything you would ever need or want for casual play. These Complete Casual decks would each be completely different from one another, so much so that you and each of your friends could all buy one, and no two of your decks would be alike. Fully customizable as well, pick you colors and deck style, etc. But, amazingly, due to the genius of Wizards of the Coast, these decks would be balanced against each other, so that you could play against anyone else who had purchased this product, be it a friend or just someone at your local game shop. Finally, let's say The Complete Casual only cost about $24.00. That's all you'd have to spend to get all of what I just described. Sound too good to be true? Well, believe or not, it's realer than you think, and I’m going to talk to you about it more in just a moment, but first, I'm feeling a little too formal, and this is a casual discussion. Let's get casual! How to Build a Magic the Gathering Deck (beginners)

04:24
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/charalanahzard Twitter: https://twitter.com/charalanahzard COMPETITION ENDS ON THE 7th OF MARCH. Enormous thanks to Hasbro for the give-away opportunity, and the cards supplied in this video! So, this week I teach you guys (mostly beginners, though) how to make your first Magic the Gathering deck. This card game has existed for ages and I only got into it 2-3 years ago, but have had heaps of fun (mostly teaching others to play!). It's definitely a bit hard to get into since, from the outside, it seems quite complex. If you build a deck this way and then start playing with friends etc. you'll very quickly pick up how to play, what you need to change, what cards you like, what strategies you like, and what weaknesses your deck has. From the steps in this video, you really just need to test your stuff out and start buying more cards to get a FULLY SICK DECK YO! So hopefully this helps some people out :). MTG - Magic Defined - Modern: What is the Modern format in Magic: The Gathering?

03:10
Magic : Defined - Sealed Constructed: http://youtu.be/wbiJ_4rfAIo Magic : Defined - Casual Play: http://youtu.be/7ia_en5Emsc Magic : Defined - Standard Constructed: http://youtu.be/HAta2ODSULQ Magic : Defined - Commander: http://youtu.be/o2n6rIzIA6A Modern is a constructed format that allows cards from all sets from Eighth Edition and forward to be played, so long as that card is not banned. If a card was originally printed before Eighth Edition, and then later reprinted in or after Eighth Edition, then that card is legal to be played in Modern. This includes timeshifted cards that were printed during the Time Spiral block. Unlike Extended, the format that Modern replaced, cards never rotate out. This means that, unless it is later banned, cards that you can play with in Modern will always be legal, and the decks that you construct will always be Although most Modern decks have a higher initial cost than formats such as standard, the fact that they will never expire or rotate out is often cited as how the Modern format is actually much more affordable in the long term. Constructed decks must contain a minimum of sixty cards. There is no maximum deck size, so long as you are still able to shuffle your deck without assistance. A sideboard of fifteen cards or fewer can be used. With the exception of basic land cards, a player's combined deck and sideboard may not contain more than four of any individual card. Modern derives its name from the modern Card Frame, first introduced in Eighth Edition. Many people use this as a quick reference to determine if a card is Modern legal. "Is it in the modern card frame? Then it is modern legal." However, for any card reprinted in the modern card frame, it is perfectly legal to use the older card in your deck. The are many sites that can tell you precisely which cards are Modern legal and which are not, but my preferred site for this is magiccards.info. Typing in any card name will give you an accurate answer as to which formats that card is legal in. This is convenient not only for confirming whether a card is legal or not in modern, but also in determining legality for other formats as well. MTG - Introduction to Sealed Deck Construction 101 - For Magic: The Gathering Prerelease and Launch

10:09
Looking for an updated version of this video? Look no further than here: https://youtu.be/VKCCM8Uvm8U The Best Deck Boxes & Vaults: http://youtu.be/14WpmcfVbFs The Best Gaming Cases: http://youtu.be/2Aw3j3Mj5Ls A Guide To Playmats: http://youtu.be/0HOjmAB4WaA What Are The Best Binders: http://youtu.be/H5IauASYWjk The Best Card Sleeves: http://youtu.be/w-aAeIZSNWw Building a sealed deck can be an exciting process, but it can also feel daunting or even overwhelming for a player new to the format. Even experienced Magic players sometimes don't know the basic process used when building a sealed deck. This video will guide you through that process and hopefully help you at future prerelease, launch, and other sealed events. However, there are some basic rules that are universal. The first is the BREAD method. While much more relevant in draft, the BREAD method is still very helpful in sealed to guide you in placing your cards in logical order. BREAD is an acronym that means BOMBS, REMOVAL, EVASION, ABILITIES, and DIRT. We've already mentioned that DIRT are the cards that are more or less unplayable. Hopefully you've already removed these cards from our piles. Bombs are your biggest threats. They are the cards where, if you opponent can not get rid of them fast, they will "go off" and win you the game. Removal is your way of dealing with your opponents threats. Removal can be counter spells, effects that return cards to your opponents hand or their deck, destroy or exile effects, ect. Removal removes the threat. Evasion refers to attackers who have some way of preventing or trying to prevent your opponents from blocking. This means flying creatures, creatures with intimidate, trample, abilities like that. Abilities means any remaining cards that don't win you the game, but do HELP you win the game. So any creatures, artifacts, etc. that have abilities other than mana abilities would be in this category as well. But let's boil all of this down to a simple rule: You want threats, and you want answers to your opponents threats. This video will guide you through the process and hopefully help you as you construct your commander deck. A few words before I begin: *This is meant as guidance, not absolute rules. Hopefully the video will help you through the process by showing one possible way to construct a deck, but it is just that: one possible way of many. *The deck I am about to construct is one I am building just for this video. I didn't already have it built, and I didn't just download another person's deck list. The final product is not being offered as the end all, be all, win fast and hard secret tech. It's the process on building this deck that I am highlighting, not the result. MTG - Is It Worth It To Buy A Booster Box? - A detailed analysis for Magic: The Gathering

How To Keep Your Foils From Curling: http://youtu.be/QTmubrS8VnI How To Build A Merfolk Deck For Modern And Legacy: http://youtu.be/BSJGWT4spx8 The Best Gaming Case For Your Cards: http://youtu.be/2Aw3j3Mj5Ls The Best Deck Boxes For MTG: http://youtu.be/14WpmcfVbFs Knowing when and why to buy something as expensive as a booster box is a very important question, one that requires knowledge both of how booster boxes work and what your needs are as a player. Overall, the best value gotten from a booster box currently in Standard is immediately after that box's set has been released. While a few individual rares may rise in price do to later being proven successful in Standard constructed, but the vast majority of cards will fall in value until they eventually rotate out. After that, the only cards that will retain or regain value are ones which are viable in other formats, most notably Modern, Legacy, and to a lesser extent Commander. My previous 3 videos overall evaluation is that almost all illustrated sleeves are inferior in quality, shuffle feel, and durability to non-illustrated sleeves. However, there are different levels of quality between the illustrated sleeves themselves, and there's one brand that has managed to print a really good quality illustrated sleeve, but my overall opinion remains that if quality, shuffle feel, and durability are your concern, then don't get illustrated sleeves. What Is The Best MTG Gaming Playmat? A Guide To Ultra Pro, Inkedplaymats & More! Magic The Gathering

This video offers a detailed compare and contrast of the four major brands: Dragon Shield, Inkedplaymats.com, Khalsa Brain Games, and Ultra PRO. A lot of players make the mistake of thinking that a playmat is a luxury accesory. They look cool, can have artwork that the player likes, and possibly help define your game space on the table. But these are merely perks to the real reason we use a playmat, which is: to keep our cards clean. This is the criteria you should be using above all else, not whether or not it has awesome art on it, but instead whether or not it acheives the overall goal of protecting your investment. If you liked the inkedplaymat.com mat I featured, it was designed by "Mythic Mats" and his collection of artwork for playmats can be viewed and bought here: http://www.inkedplaymats.com/collections/mythic-mats What Are The Best Card Sleeves: http://youtu.be/3bu1h0gtu2U The Best Deck Boxes: http://youtu.be/EmxqofgvG2I How To Double-Sleeve And WHY: http://youtu.be/FZ2tMSQcBr0 Music Courtesy Of: "Covert Affair" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

MTG - How To Choose The Right Commander - EDH Magic: The Gathering

04:31
Limited Edition Force of Will Print Unboxing: http://youtu.be/PLVNDkKah9g The Best MTG Deck Boxes: http://youtu.be/14WpmcfVbFs Is It Worth It To Buy Intro Packs: http://youtu.be/r-BPsAgqFtw Are you just starting out in the commander format? Do you want to build your own deck instead of picking one of the pre-constructed decks offered by wizards of the coast? In that case, you'll need to choose your commander from a list of over 500 candidates, a list that grows larger with every new set. What do you look for in a potential commander, especially if you're a player new to the format? The most important rule to the Commander format is simple: Pick a commander that interests you, play your favorite cards, have fun. If there's a commander out there that excites you, that interests you, that feels perfect for you due to flavor or power or flavorful power, be they one two or even five colors, then don't hesitate to pick them as your commander and build a deck. Beyond that, there's three factors you may also want to consider when making your selection: Color, Casting Cost, Function. ASMR is a very specific feeling that some people experience when they hear certain soft sounds, such as whispering and tapping, or see certain visuals, such as slow hand motions. It's often described as a pleasant tingling in the head, neck, and back, accompanied by a sense of calmness and mild euphoria. Many people watch ASMR videos to help them relax or fall asleep. MTG - Is it worth it to attend Prerelease and Launch events? Magic: The Gathering

08:25
How to Netdeck And Why: http://youtu.be/Vfl6YPVNDHY Is it worth it to buy an INTRO pack: http://youtu.be/r-BPsAgqFtw What are the best ILLUSTRATED card sleeves: http://youtu.be/ZOO6swdprXQ While fun is often reward in itself, it is still fair for players to wonder if they are effectively spending their time and money attending prerelease and launch events. This video will examine the overall value of prereleases in general, and is not meant as a comment on any specific set. Long time viewers know that this channel has taken the position that it is more advantageous to buy singles for deck building rather than cracking packs or breaking boxes. I said in my videos on booster boxes, and fat packs, ask yourself the question: Why are you buying the box? What are you trying to get from it? Cards to build a deck for Standard or Modern or Commander? If so, your $100-110 would be better spent on singles. Looking for an investment by cracking packs and selling what you get? It's a gamble, and likely you won't break even. So can a prerelease event be any different? Yes, actually, it can. There's a lot of added value to attending prerelease, the first and foremost being that you get to actually play with your cards. Crack open a booster on your own, and unless it contains something that you need for your deck, it's going to go right into storage. Not only did you not get anything to build a deck from, but you didn't get to actually play the game. At prerelease and launch you are cracking packs, but even if those packs don't contain the parts you need for a standard, modern or commander deck, you still are going to spend the day playing with them. You're not only getting fun and enjoyment, but you're also practicing and probably improving your ability to play the game. You're probably also walking away with a much better awareness and understanding of the cards, another advantage.
