When learning art history, it’s important to know how the details and nuances of individuals, but it’s also really helpful to understand how things are simplified and grouped together. Art history is divided into periods and movements. The difference between the two is time and intent. While art periods are usually based on historical eras, art movements are decided by artists as a collective. What is Expressionism? Art Movements & Styles

04:17
The term Expressionism became commonly used in Germany around 1910. Developed from the work of Symbolist artists, expressionist art movements across Germany and Austria emerged; including Die Brucke in Dresden and Der Blaue Reiter in Munich. Artists associated with these groups placed the expression of feelings over all else in their work through the bold use of colour, exaggeration of form and emphasis of the spiritual over the earthly. This short film tracks the story of Expressionism in art, from its beginnings in the early twentieth century, through to its influence on artists today. IMPROVE YOUR ART STYLE | Inspiration & Isolation

08:39
Beginners Drawing Course: https://drawanythingusee.com/educational-video-nod-subs Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lironyanil/ My books on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Liron-Yankonsky/e/B00EY73YUS/ Snapchat: LironYan3 Hi friends! In today's video I want to talk about using deliberate inspiration and isolation periods to improve your art and personal style. By deliberately focusing on inspiration for a while, you expand your horizons, learn new approaches you may have never thought of and expand your comfort zone. By deliberately focusing on ISOLATION for a while, you hone your own skill and chip away at the marble statue that is your art (which is, in my opinion, the way to develop a personal art style). I find that I alternate between these two states about every 2-3 months. I'm just now wrapping up a 3-months long isolation period, and am ready to soak up some new inspiration, follow other artists' tutorials and learn new things. This is based on my personal experience, and is definitely not set in stone. I encourage you to find what works for you, and also share your opinion on the topic by leaving a comment below. I hope you enjoyed this one, and I'll talk to you soon (: - Liron *** MUSIC CREDITS *** Clear Sky by jimmysquare https://soundcloud.com/jimmysquare Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported— CC BY 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Music provided by Audio Library https://youtu.be/Y8gsuWR4kXE

I really Thank you for offering your precious time to watch. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Taishō Period 1912–1926 Art Movement | Taishō Period 1912–1926 Art Movement Video Documentary ------------------------------ Taishō period (1912–1926) Art movement The Taishō period (大正時代, Taishō jidai), or Taishō era, is a period in the history of Japan dating from July 30, 1912, to December 25, 1926, coinciding with the reign of the Emperor Taishō. The new emperor was a sickly man, which prompted the shift in political power from the old oligarchic group of elder statesmen (or genrō) to the Imperial Diet of Japan and the democratic parties. Thus, the era is considered the time of the liberal movement known as the "Taishō democracy" in Japan; it is usually distinguished from the preceding chaotic Meiji period and the following militarism-driven first part of the Shōwa period. On July 30, 1912, the Meiji Emperor died and Crown Prince Yoshihito succeeded to the throne as Emperor of Japan. In his coronation address, the newly enthroned Emperor announced his reign's nengō (era name) Taishō, meaning "great righteousness". The end of the Meiji period was marked by huge government domestic and overseas investments and defense programs, nearly exhausted credit, and a lack of foreign reserves to pay debts. The influence of Western culture experienced in the Meiji period continued. Kobayashi Kiyochika adopted Western painting styles while continuing to work in ukiyo-e. Okakura Kakuzō kept an interest in traditional Japanese painting. Mori Ōgai studied in the West and introduced a more modern view of human life. The events flowing from the Meiji Restoration in 1868 had seen not only the fulfillment of many domestic and foreign economic and political objectives—without Japan suffering the colonial fate of other Asian nations—but also a new intellectual ferment, in a time when there was worldwide interest in socialism and an urban proletariat was developing. Universal male suffrage, social welfare, workers' rights, and nonviolent protests were ideals of the early leftist movement. Government suppression of leftist activities, however, led to more radical leftist action and even more suppression, resulting in the dissolution of the Japan Socialist Party (日本社会党 Nihon Shakaitō) only a year after its founding and general failure of the socialist movement in 1906. The beginning of the Taishō period was marked by the Taishō political crisis in 1912–13 that interrupted the earlier politics of compromise. When Saionji Kinmochi tried to cut the military budget, the army minister resigned, bringing down the Rikken Seiyūkai cabinet. Both Yamagata Aritomo and Saionji refused to resume office, and the genrō were unable to find a solution. Public outrage over the military manipulation of the cabinet and the recall of Katsura Tarō for a third term led to still more demands for an end to genrō politics. Despite old guard opposition, the conservative forces formed a party of their own in 1913, the Rikken Dōshikai, a party that won a majority in the House over the Seiyūkai in late 1914. On February 12, 1913, Yamamoto Gonnohyōe succeeded Katsura as prime minister. In April 1914, Ōkuma Shigenobu replaced Yamamoto. World War I permitted Japan, which fought on the side of the victorious Allies, to expand its influence in Asia and its territorial holdings in the Pacific. Japan declared war on Germany on August 23, 1914, and quickly occupied German-leased territories in China's Shandong and the Mariana, Caroline, and Marshall islands in the Pacific Ocean. On November 7, Jiaozhou surrendered to Japan. -------------------- Original article source : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taish%C5%8D_period Important note: due to copyright limitations in Europe all the images inside any video are for indicative art purpose only, it does not necessarily done by the artist himself the video is talking about or the art movement a video talks about. sorry if it might seem to be a misleading. What is Symbolism? Art Movements & Styles

04:25
Symbolism was an innovative literary and artistic movement which originated in late nineteenth-century France and quickly spread to the rest of Europe. Symbolist artists looked to the world of dreams and the imagination for inspiration, rather than trying to create direct representations of nature. Where did the term come from, and what effect did Symbolism have on future generations of artists? VIKING STYLE! The development of Germanic material culture

09:41
The art of the Teutonic pagans begins with the origin of Germanic people in a regional variant of the Corded Ware culture called The Swedish-Norwegian Battle Axe culture, or the Boat Axe culture, which appeared ca. 2800 BC. This developed in the Nordic Bronze Age culture, which resembles Bronze Age material culture on the continent but has some unique features, with rich barrow deposits of gold and bronze weapons and jewellery as well as thousands of petroglyphs on rocks around Scandinavia. The Germanic Iron Age follows the Roman era, and spans what is also called the Merovingian era or the Vendel era. It is at this time the Germanic art style, influenced partly by Rome and cultures from the steppes, becomes clearly distinct from all other art styles. The Migration era and Vendel era is typified by interwoven creatures called "animal style" which Bernhard Salin classified from roughly 400 to 900 AD into three phases called Salin 1, Salin 2 and Salin 3. It was also typical of Anglo-Saxon art in England. This kind of interlace not only influenced Celtic knot-work in the British isles, but also developed into the typical Viking art forms of intricate interlace found in wooden carvings, rune stones, gold and silver jewellery and more.
