Follow these 6 tips to help you make the right choice. This video was made in collaboration with Greg Mercer, founder of Jungle Scout. Tip #1 for private labeling on Amazon FBA: Look for items that have healthy competition When we tell people to look for items that have high buyer demand but low seller competition, people mistake that and think we are suggesting that they look for items that have no other sellers in the marketplace. But this is a mistake for 2 reasons: 1) It gives you more information to work with. When an item has pre-existing sellers, you can track their sales and see important data trends. For example, you can see if all of the sales were dominated by a few sellers, or if it is split amongst multiple sellers. This is important information, because if only a few sellers are dominating the sales, then we know it is a brand-driven market and it will be difficult to break into. Whereas, if the sales are split more evenly amongst multiple sellers, then we know that there is room in the marketplace for multiple competitors. 2) Having multiple sellers in the niche means that they will be attracting customers to Amazon already. This gives us the opportunity to come in and steal the sales away from them! In our video tutorial on Jungle Scout, we recommend using the Jungle Scout Web App to search for products on Amazon’s database that are selling 300 units a month, while only having 50 reviews or less. Tip #2 for private labeling on Amazon FBA: Choose simple products Choosing simple products that have less potential for headaches is what we recommend to beginners who are picking a product to private label for Amazon FBA. Here are things that you should avoid: 1) Avoid products that have easily breakable parts, such as electronics. Part of why Greg chose to manufacture bamboo sticks is that even if there were mistakes in the manufacturing process, the customer would not notice and the products would still work. 2) Avoid products that are big and heavy. Focusing on small and lightweight items makes them easier to ship and to handle inventory. 3) Avoid items that are licensed, such as items containing pictures of mickey mouse, as this will get you into legal problems. Tip #3 for private labeling on Amazon FBA: Be prepared to sell products you aren’t passionate about Sometimes, the niches we are interested are saturated, or that don’t have products to manufacture that are suitable. Be prepared to look outside of these niches. When Greg chose to sell bamboo sticks, he wasn’t particularly passionate about them - but he knew they made money, so he chose them. Tip #4 for private labeling on Amazon FBA: Avoid seasonal products It’s a lot easier to focus on items that have constant, on-going demand so that you can have regular cash flow throughout the year. For example, christmas lights are going to have a huge spike at Christmas time, but throughout the rest of the year sales will be very low. To check if an item you are thinking of selling has only seasonal demand, use Google trends to track how often an item is searched for over the year. Tip #5 for private labeling on Amazon FBA: Look for items that have a higher price point Amazon has will charge you two types of fees: 1) A variable percentage-based Amazon fulfillment fee 2) A fixed pick-and-pack fee While the variable fee will increase as your price increases, the fixed pick-and-pack fee will not. This means that as the price of your product increases, your profit margins exponentially increase as well (and inversely, as your price decreases, your profit margins exponentially decrease). That is why I usually recommend looking for aiming for a price of at least $15 so you’re paying no more than 35% in fees per sale. Tip #6 for private labeling on Amazon FBA: Don’t follow your gut Sometimes in marketing/sales, following your gut is the way to go. But when it comes to investing your money in purchasing products, do not follow your gut, as you will risk losing a lot of money. Go with the safer option of making data-driven decisions. And these 2 secrets are… 1) Sales Velocity 2) Conversions These are the 2 key factors the Amazon algorithm uses when choosing which products will sit at the top of their search results (the search engine accounts for 90% of sales on Amazon). Here is what you need to do to launch your first Amazon FBA product and make it a home-run success (even if it’s your first product): You need to match (or ideally improve on) the sales velocity & conversions of your top competitor for 2 weeks. If you do this… then your item will soar to the top of the search results - and YOU’LL start making all of the organic sales for your product! Hack #1 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Use product giveaways Product giveaways for your Amazon FBA private label product are one of the most powerful strategies at your disposal for massively increasing your sales velocity & conversions. You can’t give products away for free but you can give people a heavily discounted coupon that lets them buy it for just 99 cents, which means you are basically giving it away for free. And this is simple: Sign up for a service like JumpSend or ZonBlast. These services have a huge membership base of people that are keen to purchase heavily discounted items on Amazon. They will then distribute your coupon to it’s members. Not only will this drastically increase your sales, but the conversions will be high: You can expect around 50%. Hack #2 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Lower the price If your item starts getting sales (product giveaways are of course a great way to do this) and traction, you can then attract more sales from simply lowering the price below your competition for a week or two. If your product is already ranked in the top few results and you want to climb to the top, this strategy alone can be enough. Hack #3 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Use SuperURLs When someone clicks on your product listing after finding it using the Amazon search engine, they enter using a SuperURL: It’s a URL containing tracking information that tells the Amazon algorithm that they arrived at your listing through finding it using the search engine. You can give people this URL instead of your usual product URL to trick the algorithm into thinking that people found (and bought your item) through finding it using the search engine. Be aware though, this is a controversial method. Experts like Daniel recommend only pushing through a maximum of 20% of your sales this way. Hack #4 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Use paid advertising You can place paid ads in the Amazon search engine for your item, targeting specific keywords. When someone buys a product through clicking on it, not only will this increase your sales velocity - but it’ll help your product rank organically for that keyword as well. Hack #5 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Increase the conversions on your listing & get reviews It’s not enough to get the initial sales & conversions from drastically lowering your price: You need to have a high-converting listing so that when you reach the top of the search results you’ll keep making more sales than your competitor, otherwise the Amazon algorithm will drop you in the results. Here are some tips for increasing your conversions on your listing: * Have the maximum number of HD photos that are big enough the customer can zoom in on them. * Have a keyword rich product title. * Have multiple bullet points with excellent copy. * Have a descriptive product description that has photos included in it. Be sure to email and follow up with your customers, asking them to leave an honest review. If you do this, you can increase the rate of people leaving a review to as high as 10-15% (compared to less than 5%). Hack #6 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Use Amazon Marketing Services Amazon Market Services (AMS) is an advertising platform that you need to be specially approved for. When you are approved it lets you advertise on lots of pages on Amazon, such as your competitor’s pages. Because it requires pre-approval, most of your competition won’t be using it. So you can use this to place ads in larger amounts than 99% of your competitors and outsell them.

This video tutorial will teach you how to find a supplier on Alibaba & find a Chinese manufacturer. ►► Free Ebook - Make $10,000/Month Online: http://wholesaleted.com/4-step Here are our step-by-step instructions on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: Step 1: Go to Alibaba and find the search bar. Type in the name of a product that you are interested in selling. In this video I used vitamin pills as an example. Step 2: Because a lot of suppliers have duplicate listings on Alibaba for the same item (because it increases their presence in the Alibaba search engine) you will need to filter the results by clicking on “browse by suppliers.” Step 3: To filter the results down further, search by “Gold Suppliers.” Most suppliers will do this because it has become basically a prerequisite for having new buyers contact them. It doesn’t cost them much money to do this, so the results will only be filtered by a small amount. Step 4 (OPTIONAL): If the list of suppliers is still too long, then click to filter the results by “assessed supplier.” This is only necessary in very popular niches where you have a large number of suppliers that you need to filter down to a manageable amount. Step 5: Contact 10-20 suppliers at least. If you have time, then contact more. The more you contact, the better. Here is the email template referenced in our video tutorial on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: "My name is [INSERT NAME] from [INSERT BUSINESS NAME]. Our company director asked me to contact your company about working together on a lucrative, long-term venture. We are a company that sells products related to [INSERT NICHE HERE] and we do over 2 million dollars in sales each year. We’re looking to expand our product range and create a profitable partnership between your company and ours. We are planning to purchase [INSERT ITEM] to our product line. It would need to meet these specifications: * Specification (e.g size) * Specification (e.g. quantity) * Specification (e.g. colour) We have been researching different companies in China that manufacture [INSERT ITEM] and we think that your company could be a great supplier for it. We would like to get some more information and have a few questions that we would like you to please answer: * Can we please get a sample of the product as soon as possible. Can you please let us know how much you will charge for the sample, including Express shipping to [INSERT COUNTRY], zip code [INSERT ZIP CODE]? We would like to pay with PayPal. * How long will it take to receive the sample? * What types of packaging do you usually use for this product? * How long does it take to manufacture once an order has been placed? * What is the product-per-unit cost including shipping via Air Express to the United States, ZIP code 85043? * Do you accept PayPal for the full-order?" We would be very grateful if you would contact us with answers to the above questions as well as any additional policies that we may need to know. Please add me on Skype and talk to me, as this is my ideal form of communication: [INSERT ID] Alternatively you can email me back at this address: [INSERT ADDRESS] Kind regards, [NAME]” Here are some final tips to keep in mind when you are looking to find a supplier on Alibaba to manufacture your Amazon FBA private label products: Tip #1 on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: Don’t judge the supplier/manufacture by their Alibaba response rate. The Alibaba response rate only takes into account how fast they respond within Alibaba’s email system, and it doesn’t take into account how fast they reply to personal emails. This is not a good indicator of how responsive they will be to private communication, which is all you should care about. Tip #2 on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: Avoid manufacturers that try to vet your business. If a manufacturer comes back and starts asking questions about your business, clearly skeptical of the size of your company, it is best to move on. Manufacturers that do this will usually decline to work with you as they are only to work with other large companies, so you don’t want to waste your time. Tip #3 on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: It is OK to work directly with a sales rep - if they offer you a better deal. When you are looking to find a supplier on Alibaba, you’ll discover that sales reps often have inflated prices (due to commission cuts). But occasionally, a sales rep will have a better relationship with a factory and so are able to negotiate lower prices. They will also often have good english, making communication easier. Vet sales reps and treat them as equals during the process of picking and choosing the right supplier.

Because having an Amazon Pro Merchant Account is a necessary prerequisite to winning the Buy Box. Winning this is crucial as a new seller for two reasons: 1) About 80% of sales are made using the Buy Box - so not winning this means you miss out on crucial sales opportunities. 2) When you are the featured seller in the Buy Box the number of reviews you have are not featured, so it means that new sellers won’t be discriminated against for having little-to-no reviews by buyers. Even though it costs money compared to opening a free seller account, I strongly recommend it because you’ll make more money with one. Second thing to do BEFORE you start selling on Amazon: Have the documents ready when applying for an Amazon account When creating an Amazon account, you will need the following documents: 1) Photos of a national ID (like a passport or a drivers license). 2) A bank statement with your address on it. So before you start an account, take photos and download your latest bank statement and upload these documents when Amazon asks for them. Third thing to do BEFORE you start selling on Amazon: Act fast - DON’T wait! Amazon is regularly changing their requirements. For example… * In 2014 they changed Personal Care into a restricted category. * In 2016 they made it so new FBA sellers couldn’t send in their first shipment during the 4th quarter. * And in 2017, they changed it so you need to upload proof of ID documents during the account creation process. The sooner you get started, the easier it’ll be. Fourth thing to do BEFORE you start selling on Amazon: Pick your Amazon business model There are several types of business models to pursue when opening your Amazon store (private labeling, wholesale selling, dropshipping & retail arbitrage). Before you open your Amazon business, you need to pick the right one that meets your skillset and access to resources. For example, private labeling has the advantage of being very hands-off. But it requires a large upfront investment. While a dropshipping business takes more time to manage, but it requires a lot less money to get started. Weigh up the pros & cons. Fifth thing to do BEFORE you start selling on Amazon: Get a credit card (or a debit card) When you sell on Amazon you need to pay selling fees. To pay these, Amazon requires you have either a credit card or a debit card. You cannot use a Payoneer card or a prepaid debit card. If you don’t have this, then consider opening an Aliexpress dropshipping store on your own website. Sixth thing to do BEFORE you start selling on Amazon: Figure out a plan to manage your cash flow Don’t be afraid by the word “cash flow.” All we mean is that you need to have a plan for how you are going to pay for the items you are going to sell. Why? Because Amazon holds your money for 2 weeks as a new seller. This means: 1) If you’re dropshipping, you need to have money to use in the meantime to order the items the customer has purchased. 2) If you’re private labeling, it’s prudent to have money set aside to replace inventory if your product gets super-successful super-fast. While you could save up hundreds to thousands of dollars, the easiest way to manage this is with a credit card. If you don’t have a credit card then I recommend working on your credit score and making it a priority to get one. Seventh thing to do BEFORE you start selling on Amazon: Check if the category you want to sell in is restricted Some item categories on Amazon are unrestricted (ungated categories) and you can sell in them without submitting an application (e.g. home & gardening). But some categories are restricted (gated categories). Some categories are very easy to get unrestricted in (like clothing & accessories) but some are more difficult (e.g. food & grocery). Be sure to check before getting started. Eighth thing to do BEFORE you start selling on Amazon: Set aside time each day/week to manage/grow your Amazon business. Make sure you set aside time each day to fulfill orders & answer emails/questions. And set aside time each week to grow your business. For many this will be working on weekends. Doing this can be challenging: But it’s a right of passage that most business owners go through. So don’t get discouraged: The rewards are well worth it!

How to find the best products to private label for Amazon FBA using Jungle Scout. ►► Get Jungle Scout: http://wholesaleted.com/yes/junglescout (affiliate link) ►► Free Ebook - Make $10,000/Month Online: http://wholesaleted.com/4-step Step 1 to pick the best products to private label for Amazon FBA: Research items that have potential to be profitable To do this, you will need a subscription to the Jungle Scout web app. All versions of this (including the lowest cost subscription, the Startup Edition) include the Product Database, which we will be using for step 1. 1) Start by signing into your Jungle Scout subscription. 2) Go to the web app, and select the Product Database. 3) Click on a category to analyze. You can analyze all categories if you like. If you find this overwhelming, then start out by selecting a category that interests you. 4) Set it to find items that have a maximum of 50 reviews or less. 5) Set it so that items must be making a minimum of 300 sales a month. 6) Set it so that they price must be between $20 and $50. 7) Set it to weigh a maximum of 2 pounds. 8) Select from the dropdown menu to show up to 200 products. 9) Do a search. You’re done! It’s time to move onto the next step. Step 2 to pick the best products to private label for Amazon FBA: Filter the results Now it’s time to take the items we found in step 1 and manually review them. We want to look for items that meet the following criteria: * It’s not a big-brand product. * It’s not bulky. * It’s not difficult to manufacture or likely to break easily. * It doesn’t require variations. This is a crucial step when finding the best products to private label for Amazon FBA and you can’t automate it: You need to go through the items manually. When you find an item that meets this criteria, add it to your product tracker (a tool included in all levels of the Jungle Scout Web App). Step 3 to pick the best products to private label for Amazon FBA: Analyze the Competition Now that we’ve filtered items that have potential in step 2, we need to go through it’s competitors and analyze how difficult the competition will be. To do this, we are going to use the Jungle Scout Chrome Extension. Both versions of this (Lite & Pro) will work for this Jungle Scout tutorial for 2017. 1) Open up the Amazon listing for the first item you added to the product tracker. 2) Go to the search bar, and type in a description of what the product is. 3) On the search results page, click the Jungle Scout chrome extension button. 4) Load up the results, and look at the top 10 listings. On average, is the item selling for $20 or more? If so, move onto step 5. If not, remove this item from your product tracker and move onto analyzing the next item. 5) Look at the total sales volume for the top 10 sellers. Are they selling 3,000+ units a month combined? If yes, continue onto step 6. 6) Look at the top 10 sellers - are each of the top sellers on average making 300+ sales a month? It’s OK if some are, as long as in general, they are making 300+ sales a month. If the answer is yes, move onto step 7. 7) Look at the top 5 sellers for the product. Is there at least one seller in there with 50 reviews or less? If yes, move onto step 8. 8) Look at the top 10 sellers for the product. Are there at least three sellers in there with 50 reviews or less? If the answer is yes, then congratulations - you’ve found a winning product! Bonus step to pick the best products to private label for Amazon FBA: Analyze the SEO competition For this bonus step, we will need access to the Jungle Scout Niche Hunter. This is a tool that is only included with the Standard & Business editions of the Jungle Scout Web App. This step is optional, but I strongly recommend it if you want to find the best products to private label for Amazon FBA. If you don’t use the Niche Hunter to automate the process for you, then I recommend performing this step manually. 1) Sign into your Jungle Scout Web App (Standard or Business) and select the Niche Hunter. 2) Type in what the product is into the search. 3) Analyze the keywords, and look for keywords that have a Listing Quality Score of under 60. If an item has a score below this, the SEO competition will be easy to relatively easy/moderate, anything about this will be harder to compete in. Since you’ll be spending a lot of time on your niche, choose something you like that could also be profitable. A good niche will have multiple products available. Give your customers some choices. If you’re selling diet products, give them several to choose from. You can link your websites together and create your own little community. Check out the competition There will be others trying to sell the same products as you. Search online and see how stiff the competition is. Most affiliate programs have a metric that describes how well a product is selling. Ideally, you would want to find some products that are selling well, but have minimal competition. Think about the timeframe Based on the level of competition, create a timeframe for success. Avoid picking something that requires more time and effort than you have. Be concerned about the sales page Even a fantastic product is difficult to sell without a great sales page. Though it’s possible to create your own sales page, it’s easier to send prospects to the one provided by the company that creates the product. Ask yourself if the page looks professional and makes you interested in owning the product yourself. Look at the payout How much will you be making per sale? How many sales do you estimate? Some products sell for $10, while others can sell for over $1,000. The commissions can range from 1% to 75% or more. Does the product have staying power? Some products morph over time. For instance, Apple releases a new iPhone every year or so. A good passive income product won’t require you to rebuild your marketing machine each year.
