Width and height units - Webflow CSS tutorial (using the Old UI)

03:59
In web design, you can declare an element's width and/or height using either fixed values or relative values. This video covers the most commonly used dimensions (outside of ems): 1. Auto-sizing (auto) 2. Pixels (px) 3. Percentage (%) 4. Viewport height (vh) 5. Viewport width (vw) 6. Minimum (min) and maximum (max) You can adjust an element's width and height in the Styles Panel, under the Layout section. We’ll be covering how each of these units work in the context of setting element dimensions. ---------- Get started with Webflow: https://help.webflow.com/courses/getting-started http://webflow.com http://twitter.com/webflow http://facebook.com/webflow

CSS Tutorial — Relative Sizes, Percentage % (7/13)

02:35
CSS Tutorial — Relative Sizes, Percentage % (7/13) Relative size is huge. The first one I wanna show you is percentage. AAAAAA this is a good one. You can say width: 50%. That’s legit CSS. But wait, 50% of what? Good question... Say we have P tag. I’ll give it a red background so we can see where it starts and where it ends. You should do that too. P tags by default are block level elements, I explain more here. so they take up the whole row. Their width is 100% of their parent. So by default it’s kinda like the P tag has an invisible rule on it that says width: 100%. They kinda just adjust to their containing parent element. Now what if I change the width to 50%; What if I add that to my CSS? BOOM. Look at that. Now it’s half the size. Wait, again, half the size of what? In this case the containing parent of our P tag is the body, I’ll add a green border to body so you can see. when I resize the window the body is getting smaller & bigger, but the width value that we gave our P tag stays 50%, relative to the body. Because it’s its parent. So when I resize the window, my P tag will automatically resize itself to be 50% whatever the body is. This is a technique used in responsive web design. It’s extremely useful. It’s not the end all be all, there are times where you don’t want a relative value, but if I used absolute values for width and height, my element might look great on one screen, but be completely unusable in a smaller device. So it’s safe to say relative values are mostly used to support different screen sizes. I don’t want you to worry about responsive web yet, it’s a whole course in and of itself, and I promise we’ll get there. There are other very important relative units I wanna show you, EM and REM, they are absolutely essential in sizing your text, something I brought up already. And that’s coming up next. Let’s go get it.

CSS Tutorial For Beginners 27 - Font Size

08:00
Hey my good friends, in this CSS tutorial for beginners we're going to dive head-first into the font-size property. The font-size property in CSS, believe it or not, controls how large the font displays in a browser. We can control font size either via absolute or relative measurements, and we'll cover both types in this video. Absolute font sizes are immutable (unless overridden later in the CSS), whereas relative font sizes are determined largely by the base font size they inherit. For my video on CSS inheritance, check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMpaebQ3n6A&index=11&list=PL4cUxeGkcC9gQeDH6xYhmO-db2mhoTSrT Anyway, peace out, keep coding & have fun :). How to Set HTML Table Width and Height

It is used from being an organized data displayer, to being a complete web site layout. In this tutorial we will learn how to set HTML table width and height. Step # 1 -- The width The width of a table can easily be set with the width attribute of the (table) element. This width can either be a pixels count or a percentage value. The percentage value allows the table to resize based on the browser size, while the fixed pixel count makes the table firm and unchangeable. Step # 2 -- The height To set html table height just define the height attribute in the (table) element. This height can also be either pixel count or a percentage value, where percentage value allows adjusting to browser sizes no matter how small or large it can get. Following image illustrates how to set html table height. Together the width and height can allow a table to take customized space on the web page instead of its default content wrap state. And that's there is to know about the HTML table widths and heights.

CSS Different Types of Page Layouts

04:40
CSS has 4 types of layout: 1st is static page layout(The static page is sometimes called a fixed layout or static width layout) 2nd is Liquid page layout( Liquid page layout sometimes called fluid or fluid width layout. ) 3rd is Adaptive page layout 4th is Responsive page layout Static Page Layout: Static page is working with fixed width and without using media query. because of that in mobile this page will look very small. we can't see any changes in the layout when window is resized. Liquid Page Layout: Liquid page layout all container has percentage width but has no media query. because of that, In mobile this page will look very small with resizing content and resizing width of container. Adaptive Page Layout: Adaptive page layout all container has fixed width in px(pixel) and also has mobile media query with using html meta viewport. here you can hide, enlarge, or move the content to make it look good on any screen. but because of fixed size you can't resize your container and that's why you need to put width auto or use parentage width for mobile. Responsive Page Layout: Responsive page layout all container has percentage width and also has mobile media query with using html meta viewport. here you can resize, shrink, hide, enlarge, or move the content to make it look good on any screen. The main reason behind this subject is that many client, developers don't know different between fluid layout, responsive and liquid layout. I hope you got idea about the topic discussed in this video and if you like this video please subscribed and like this video.

How to Change HTML Table Border Style

Border style of an HTML table can be changed by changing the style attribute in a table element. The style of the border is specified in the Cascading Style Sheets. There are a lot of border properties which can be applied to tables to create different border styles of the tables and their cells. Here in this tutorial we will discuss those various styles used in html for table borders. Step 1: Set Standard Border of a Table In order to set a standard border of a table, we set borders in the style attributes and the width of the border as 1 px. The third option lets us specify the color of the border. These three options can be used in html for table borders . Standard borders are 1 px in width and solid black in color. Step 2: Set Border around cells A standard border is a black outline around the table. In order to set a border around a cell of the table, we set the style as a border in the cell separately. The same is the case with the width of the border and the color of the border. The three options can altered for each of the cells separately to create different styles of border. Step 3: Removing Double Lines in a Border If the borders have been set twice, a double line will appear at the border. In order to set a single border, we apply the Cascading Style Sheet's border collapse property in the style attribute of each cell, separately. Step 4: Other Border Properties There are a lot of other properties of table border styles in HTML which can be applied to tables and their cells. Borders can be made curvy and aligned to one side of the table by using these border properties.

Centering elements with flexbox - Web design tutorial (using the Old UI)

01:21
Centering elements vertically used to be a challenge in web design, until flexbox arrived on the scene. With flexbox it’s easy to center any element(s) vertically in its parent element. In this video, we'll show you how to use flexbox to center one or more elements. In these examples, the parent element has been set to a height of 100vh, which is 100% of the viewport height, so the items are centered relative to the viewport, as well as to their parent containers. ---------- Get started with Webflow: https://help.webflow.com/courses/getting-started http://webflow.com http://twitter.com/webflow http://facebook.com/webflow
