How to draw a fashion sketch like a pro

04:25
I will show you today 3 steps that will help you achieve different skills - when it comes to fashion sketches. First of all, there is the human anatomy for fashion - in my first drawing. You will start with the axes, as always.Do quickly the primary shapes and then the connection between the shapes. This is the first phase of the fashion sketch: the learning of the basic anatomy of the human body. In this stage, it is very important to know the anatomy, the human proportions and also it is very useful to use a soft line because later on you will have to add clothes too. Then, we will get to the second phase of the fashion sketch. With this exercise you will have to reduce your lines, to make them more expressive and to add costume details. Here, the line is very important and also the ability to be creative and to leave your imagination get wild. One of my tips here is to use a dark pencil to have more contrast and strength in line. As about the last step, we will skip all the previous phases, and we will use the imagination of the viewer to fill the blank spaces. On this phase, there is no need to show everything. You will get to this phase after doing a lot of human anatomy exercises, and also line studies. The lines change depending of the light source, as you will see in my next video. The last phase is also very refined, simplified and somehow very close to art. It can be as crazy as possible because this drawing is a way of self-expression. This drawing will reveal your inner you. Try this exercise. And if you want to share it with us, send me an email on [email protected] and i will reply. If you like my video, please share + subscribe. THANK YOU! IOANA

Tips to draw better a fashion sketch in 4 minutes

05:00
The tutorial for today: Tips to draw better a fashion sketch in 4 minutes. We start with the construction axes. Don't over draw them. Just a simple sketch will do.This simple axes will help you and they will be a small guidance for your future costume.Remember that if the shoulder axis goes up, the hip line will balance the figue and it will be sketched in the oposite direction.Use soft lines and the use strong strokes that will create your costume. This is an exercise about composition, accents, balancing the lines in a fashion costume, it is an exercise that will help you be more creative, very fast, As a tip: use a music playlist and depending on the music, you can accelerate your lines, after the beat. There is no use in drawing the details, all you have to do is to have an expressive line, very modulated. For the second fashion sketch start, as previously, with the axes. Then add lines, dots and surfaces to your costume, to make in even more creative and interesting to be watched. A drawing is perfect when you have multiple line sizes - and these you can obtain when you press softer or harder, when you can add pression to your pencils and control the lines. Another tip is to keep your eyes half closed to see where you need to put the accents in a fashion sketch. If the sketch has almost the same "color" let's say, it is time to have areas where the line is stronger or softer, where you have empty spaces or black surfaces. These areas are those where the eye of the viewer stops and reflects, where the eye takes a break. When drawing more figures on a single paper sheet, try to think of all of them as a unit, as a whole. Each fashion sketch can be treated as an individual composition, but also the full paper should be in harmony, having the perfect composition. See those black areas that I underline sometimeS? Those are the equilibrium of each composition and they help you create a rythm to your drawings. At then end, take a look at all my drawings on this page and try to understand which technique I applied and why. The first model is feminine and it has a curved soft line. The scond one has the accents put on the upper side, having big volumes in the shape of a pair of earrings and jewelry for the neck. The third one is more elastic, nervous and it has a bigger volume the the preivous sketches. Here the contrast between the soft lines and those with accents is bigger. The costume is composed by 3 areas that are round: the two volumes on the shoulders and the lower part- the skirt. The last one has a more masculine approach. The lines are bold, strong and they tend to have angles. They are more rigid and they look geometric somehow. The last figure is the accent of this composition. The line is crazy and unexpected, compared to the previous strokes. Try to do this exercise at home, by copying my sketches and then by inventing new ones. Good luck!

How to do fashion sketches step by step

06:34
I'm Ioana Avram, fashion designer. Welcome to my Fashion teaching channel where you will find design videos starting from basic, easy level ( for beginners ) until advanced level. Follow my advices regarding the hand draw: anatomy studies, fashion poses, figures and croquis, learn about style and craft, fabrics and how to create garments. I love painting and sketching, I like fabrics and fashion magazines and especially pencil, ink and watercolor technique. I believe anyone can draw after practicing a while because all you need is work, work, work and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. :) I made this channel to prove that it's ok to have talent, but not necessary. Through my one of a kind technique you will see how easy it will be to draw from now on. You will learn more about fashion and everything related to it: composition, shading, textures, different techniques and especially learn how to draw fashion sketches all by yourself. I will post new videos each Thursday so don't forget to subscribe. I will do my best to answer all comments. Ask anything you want, and feel free to leave any suggestions for future videos! All are taken into consideration. For more info visit my website fashion-teaching.com. Thank you and take care! FAQ: 1. What materials do you use for your drawings? ****************************************************** I use Toison d'Or or Koh-I-Noor pencils ( from 4B to 8B), Copic markers, Derwent coloured pencils, Canson paper or Fabriano paper, Factis eraser, metal pencil sharper and Winsor and Newton watercolors and ink. 2. Did you go to any art school or academy? ****************************************************** Yes, I studied design and fashion design ( for 4 years) at the University of Arts and Design in Cluj, Romania, Europe. I had a scholarship in Katowice, Poland and another one in Coburg, Germany and a course attended with Gary Tu - a well-known fashion illustrator from Taipei, Taiwan. 3.Where do you get your inspiration? ****************************************************** Basically I am very interested in any image and text that could grab my attention: fashion albums, history of art, books I read, movies I see...In fact, i will share below all my sources of inspiration. Find all my inspirational folders here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/397137153755499/photos/ 4. Do you have any links or books you can recommend? ****************************************************** Definitely I would recommend Gottfried Bammes' Anatomy, Barcsay's Anatomy and David Downton's illustrations that you will find here: http://www.daviddownton.com/ and here: http://instagram.com/daviddownton 5. How long have you been drawing? ****************************************************** 30 years ago some desperate parents interdicted their 3 years old child to use pencils to draw on their house's inner walls :). Due to this, and to the fact that all pencils, brushes and markers were forbidden, the child found another way to express: all chocolate received was hidden and used to "decorate" the walls when all other tools were not available.30 years later, here I am, willing to tell a story on every wall there is. Not with chocolate, like I used to :), but in watercolors, as you can find on my shop here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/bijuterra. Thank you, and hope to enjoy my illustrations and videos from your comfortable armchair, having a cup of warm milk in your hand and smiling. 6. How can I send my drawing to you? ****************************************************** For any personal advice you can send me your illustrations or questions here: [email protected] and I will reply. Thank you! 7. How to draw faces in fashion illustration

05:56
This tutorial is for golden diys, alexisaspoon, Memo Chanel, Vandyan Ha, jasmine smith, Doc Hiluluk, Tania Kaur and many more who wanted to learn how to actually draw a fashion portrait. And here is the process when drawing the face, in fashion illustration. We start with the round of the face. Then we add the nose in a triangle shape. After that, we continue with the lips. Make sure to leave the bottom part of the lips in white because usually that is the lighted part of the lips. Then go to the eyes. The size of an eye is the same as the distance between the eyes. Use soft lines and then add more contrast when you are sure you did the right thing for the eyes. The upper part is darker and the lower part - you can leave it in soft gray. There is no use to add so much contrast here. Use parallel lines to shade the part under the eyebrows - where the shadow is. Add shadow under the nose and chin and on the sides. Then use creative, expressive lines to make the hair. It is not necessary to have a real haircut, because, as you can see, you can play even more with the lines to create a spectacular haircut. Then do the earrings and the neck - use lines that suggest a lacy costume. Then go to the chest and will it with expressive lines as you can see in my drawing. Use 8B pencils for more contrast and put some accents where do you need them. Add details if you want and then let's do another drawing. This time we can be even more creative. Start like you already know with the oval of the face. Then suggest the right eye and then the left one. Add the shadow in parallel lines. After that, think of a crazy shape for the earrings. They are not necessary symmetric, so that you can think of any shapes. This time, I choose a non symmetrical hat and I accentuated some lines or the background in order to make it more evident in the page. As about the costume, I played with curves to exaggerate the volume. Use your imagination and helped by our creative tools: the lines, the dots and the surfaces, create a costume as you wish.

This video shows you the art supplies that I use to draw fashion sketches: SKETCHING: HB and 2B grey pencils (I forgot to mention the erasers: a regular one, one that has a thin tip and a kneaded eraser which doesn’t leave residues on the sheet of paper) Graphite for quick sketching Charcoal pencil for the shadowing and to get really black backgrounds Ink pens (PIGMA 005, 05 and 1 // FABER-CASTELL Small, Medium & Bold) Fixative (either from the art supplies store or a simple hairspray) COLORING: Markers: Chartpak AD / Copic / Prismacolor (several colors + darker shades of those colors, warm and cold greys, several black tones, several skin tones and a blender) Color pencils: a regular box of colors will do the job (but you need white, black, grey and a skin tone) PAPER: Sketchbook in a format that fits your pre-made croquis, slightly see-through Marker paper (bleedproof) in a larger format. What materials do you mainly use for your drawings? In general, I use Copic Ciao markers and Touch Twin Markers, Quill Multiboard A4 white paper, 2B and HB Pentel and Faber-Castell 0.5 mechanical pencil and Faber-Castell PVC-Free Space Eraser (Cool name) and I use Uni-ball Signo white fineliner 2. Did you go to any art school or academy? No. I took Studio Arts in senior high school. It's not from that class that I learned evreything I know. I did learn new things from the class, but not to do with fashion illustration or manga drawings. I went to a regular high school, so it doesn't specialize in art. 3. How do you draw the models? Do you use any templates? I started out by tracing models from magazines which is harder than it sounds, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. Then of course, I searched all types of videos on YouTube and some sites as well on Google, which unfortunately, I don't remember. How I learned to draw my models is using the 9-Head technique. 4. How old are you? I am now 19 years old 5. How long have you been drawing? I'm pretty sure I started drawing at 6. That's probably my oldest memory of me drawing. I got into manga drawings when I was 11 years old, I started teaching myself how to draw manga when I was 13 years old. I started developing an interest in fashion design also when I was 11, but I pursued that interest or taken it further at the age of 14. So, I would say I started drawing fashion illustration at the age of 14. 6. Where do you get your inspiration? I get my inspiration from music, photos on Instagram, Tumblr fashion trends, things that I love. There are times where I am just in an Artist's Block and I feel really brain dead where I can't draw. Or I force myself to draw and it never turns out to be something that I like. 7. Do you have any links or books you can recommend? Definitely! Fashion Illustration by Anna Kiper and Fashion Poses for Fashion Illustrators by Sha Tahmasebi are two books that I own at the moment. I'm hoping to get more. These two books are very helpful if you're a beginner or even if you want to be a bit more advanced. MUSIC: RetroFuture Clean by Kevin MacLeod NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED

How to Retrace a Fashion Sketch | Fashion Sketching

01:47
Watch more How to Draw Fashion Sketches videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/501951-How-to-Retrace-a-Fashion-Sketch-Fashion-Sketching Learn how to retrace a fashion sketch from fashion designer Garo Sparo in this Howcast video. Sometimes something you'll have to do a lot as a fashion is to retrace your sketches, so you can add a different texture or color to it without having to redo the entire sketch from scratch. And I like to use marker paper, because then that can be your final sketch. It's kind of see through but it's not too flimsy as tracing paper would be. So first step is, of course, put the paper over your sketch. And this dress was a lace dress, but I need to re-render it without the lace. Using my maker paper because it's great, see-through, and sturdy, all at the same time. Give her both necklines, give her sleeves, do your hemline, create your folds, but you're basically tracing right through it, it's wonderful. Give her a head, guess she deserves a head. I'm going to give her a high hairdo, why not. Get some legs, give her some heels, because it's a different dress. And now, you've just retraced your fashion sketch, and now you can create this in any color, and it's really handy that way. So that's how you retrace a fashion sketch.
