76th Annual Golden Globe Awards Nominations

15:26
LOS ANGELES (Dec. 6, 2018) – This morning, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced the nominees for the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. In addition, Meher Tatna, President of the HFPA, revealed a prestigious new annual award that will recognize the highest level of achievement in television. “Equivalent to its film accolade counterpart, the Cecil B DeMille Award, this new annual award will honor TV’s biggest names and brightest talents,” said Tatna. “Honorees will be selected based on their outstanding accomplishments, as well as the impact and influence that their television career has had on the industry and audiences. The importance of this presentation is underscored by the fact that this is the first special achievement award of its kind since the DeMille Award was originally presented in 1952.” The inaugural presentation of this new TV award will take place during the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The first ever television honoree, along with the Cecil B DeMille recipient, will be revealed in the coming weeks. Terry Crews, Danai Gurira, Leslie Mann, and Christian Slater joined Tatna, the previously announced Golden Globe Ambassador Isan Elba, and Executive Producer and Executive VP of Television at dick clark productions, Barry Adelman, in announcing the nominees in 25 categories spanning motion picture and television. Sandra Oh, star of the critically acclaimed BBC America drama series “Killing Eve,” and Andy Samberg, star of NBC’s Golden Globe-winning comedy “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” will co-host the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony will air LIVE coast to coast on NBC on Sunday, January 6 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from The Beverly Hilton. Produced by dick clark productions in association with the HFPA, the Golden Globe Awards are viewed in more than 210 countries worldwide. Meher Tatna is president of the HFPA. Allen Shapiro, Executive Chairman of dick clark productions; Mike Mahan, CEO of dick clark productions; and Barry Adelman, Executive VP of Television at dick clark productions will serve as executive producers. About the Hollywood Foreign Press Association The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) was founded in 1943 as the Hollywood Foreign Correspondents Association (HFCA) by a group of entertainment journalists representing world media in Hollywood, who realized the need to unite and organize to gain the recognition and access to studios and talent accorded to the domestic press. All qualified journalists were accepted, with the bold goal of “Unity Without Discrimination of Religion or Race.” A year later, the HFCA created the Golden Globe Awards which, to this day, the entire membership selects, votes on and awards every year for outstanding achievements in motion pictures and television. This year marked the 75th anniversary of the Golden Globe Awards. Members of the HFPA represent 56 countries with a combined readership of 250 million in some of the world’s most respected publications. Each year, the organization holds the third most watched awards show on television, the Golden Globe® Awards, which has enabled the organization to donate more than $33 million to 80 entertainment-related charities, scholarship programs and humanitarian efforts over the last 25 years. 00:24
(11 Dec 2018) NEW GOLDEN GLOBES HONOR WILL BE NAMED AFTER CAROL BURNETT The Golden Globe Awards will introduce a new TV special achievement trophy at next month's telecast and name it after its first recipient - comedic icon Carol Burnett. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association said Tuesday the Carol Burnett Award - the small-screen version of the group's film counterpart, the Cecil B. DeMille Award - will annually honor someone "who has made outstanding contributions to television on or off the screen." The first Carol Burnett Award will, fittingly, go to Burnett, a five-time Golden Globe winner who was the first woman to host a variety sketch show, "The Carol Burnett Show." In a statement, association President Meher Tatna said: "We are profoundly grateful for her contributions to the entertainment industry and honored to celebrate her legacy forever at the Golden Globes." Hollywood Foreign Press Association Announces Two Million Dollar Grants to Benefit Journalists

01:32
Hollywood Foreign Press Association Announces Two Million-Dollar Grants to Benefit Journalists. In January 2017, Meryl Streep made headlines (and raised three-quarters of a million dollars to boot) when she name-checked the Committee to Protect Journalists during her Golden Globes acceptance speech. Twelve months and endless earth-shaking bombshells later, Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Meher Tatna has followed suit. At the Golden Globes on Sunday, Tatna announced that the HFPA had created two million-dollar grants to recognize the incredible work that journalists continue to do, despite renewed and ever-more-vicious attacks. The first has been made out to the Committee to Protect Journalists, which, Tatna said, "promotes global press freedom and defends the right of journalists to report the news without fear of reprisal." The second will go to the non-profit and non-partisan Pulitzer Prize-winning International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, which "has brought to light important stories over the past two decades." "As artists, you bravely tell stories that enable us to see the world through the eyes of another," Tatna said, addressing her audience. "These stories are our best hope of reflecting the kind of world we want to live in. We are privileged to share your work with the world."

Taylor Lautner Suits Up For Hollywood Foreign Press

Taylor Lautner At HFPA Event: http://bit.ly/qzklSd http://Facebook.com/ClevverTV - Become a Fan! http://Twitter.com/ClevverTV - Follow Us! You're watching ClevverTV -- I'm Joslyn Davis coming to you from our headquarters in the heart of Hollywood. Taylor Lautner suited up to hang out with some of Hollywood's top A-listers at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's luncheon yesterday. The star-studded Beverly Hills soiree was held to raise money for 46 film schools and organizations. Taylor dished to E! that being at the event was "so odd. It's such an honor." And part of that honor was probably in being talked about by the one and only Mark Walberg who hit the stage and directed this funny comment to Leo DiCaprio. He said: "I am sitting a table with a gentleman who is better looking than you and is in better shape than me. So we're both out of a job, dude. Taylor Lautner! We're screwed. It's over dude. 'Titanic' and 'Boogie Nights' were a long time ago. I accept it. I had a good run and on to the next." So funny! After hearing these words, Taylor's reaction was almost that of shock, or so it seemed as he said "Hearing words like that from Mark and everybody it's just surreal." SO this kind of got us thinking -- do you all think Taylor Lautner has what it takes to be the next mega-star actor, similar to a Mark Walberg or a Leo Dicaprio? Let us know and if you want to get a closer look at T's uber chic look for the classy event, click the link below to our ClevverTV blog to get an up-close and personal look at his walk down the red carpet! As a woman who has been in the business for so long, who had asked to be able to direct film 20 years ago and people laughed – to have an opportunity to see women in these positions now, it's very, very rewarding. And when I used to suggest directors and suggest people, it would be like, 'Oh Sharon, come on.' He really pulled off the impossible." 18. Wide shot Tatna and Adelman talk with reporter 19. These great actresses like Judi Dench, and then you see someone like Saoirse Ronan. So I think that's exciting. And I think it's very exciting that three women are in the screenwriting category, which I don't think we've ever seen before. That's a great move forward and it's wonderful." 20. La La Land completely dominated ever film category this year, sweeping all of the awards in the Best Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Director, Best Actor, AND Best Actress categories. Emma Stone was all of us in that thank you speech. La La Land also scored the Best Motion Picture in the Musical or Comedy category, beating out the fan favorite of the year Deadpool. As for the TV categories, Netflix’s original series The Crown took home the biggest wins with Best TV series drama, and for Best Actress in a TV series drama thanks to Claire Foy’s fantastic portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II. Preach, Claire, preach! FX’s breakout hit Atlanta also turned out to be a Globe favorite, winning both Best TV Comedy series and Best Actor in a TV comedy series for its star Donald Glover, who also created the show.
