How to link css to html (Quick Tutorial)

02:05
This video will show you How to link css to html. There are three ways to insert the stylesheet. Each way has a different method structure. The inline style method uses the style attribute to style the specific element in the webpage. The internal stylesheet resides within the webpage. The external stylesheet is a separate file from the webpage. An external stylesheet is composed of all the styling attributes to the specific page it was linked to. A "link" tag is added inside the "head" section in the webpage. How to Connect CSS and HTML

03:26
Hi, in this tutorial you will learn how to attach css to html. Thanx for watching, your comments are welcome. #css #csstutorial #connectcss Project Resources ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.mediafire.com/download/fn34v49e2d98h3l/How_to_attach_a_css_file_to_html.7z Tools ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brackets, FREE code editor http://brackets.io/ Emmet, super speed coding addon http://emmet.io/ Beautify, turning your ugly code into beautiful script https://github.com/brackets-beautify/brackets-beautify Transcription ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi guys and welcome to another tutorial on how to connect CSS and the HTML file. So and make make one HTML file and make one a CSS file in your folder next to each other and in your HTML file just file just and these code: link just add this code it's a link and href and connect our CSS file right here, just write the name of your styles CSS the name of your CSS file, and then we said rel, it means that we are relating to a stylesheet. And that’s it guys let’s check if this works of course. let's say in our style seats, style.css, let’s say background color of our body is, background color is let’s say gray. It works, as you can see we change the background color of our HTML file in, but we are writing over here in our styles CSS, and this style is transferred to the to the HTML file. It’s pretty easy, pretty simple, but don't forget if you move your styles.css to another location don't forget to change these don't forget to change this because if you change location, HTML file cannot locate the CSS and it won’t apply. for example, if we move our CSS file in a new folder called CSS then we must in our HTML file add the path to that CSS is something like these. It’s exactly like this. s CSS and style.css and it will work again. So be careful it's very easy but be careful of these paths and If CSS doesn't work it's in 90% of the 90% that you mistyped something over here that you screw up the select code, I’ve done that 1 million times and now I'm very very very cautious about these things. But off after a time you will forget about it it will be automatic. And that's it for me. Stay tuned for the next the tutorials and bye bye.

HTML Style Attribute https://youtu.be/eJJa91JZQ84 The HTML style attribute allows you to write inline styles. That means the CSS rules are right in the HTML. This HTML Web Design tutorial will explain how to add a Heading tag for your website. The heading tag is very important because it helps search engines to determine what the main topic is on a particular web page within your website. The HTML codes for heading tags range from h1 to h6 with h1 being the most important or in other words the main heading HTML web design tag. Make sure to give the h1 tag the most importance in terms of titles on your web page for headings. Another rule I recommend you follow is to never repeat a header tag on the same page for example you would never have two h1 tags on the same web page but you could have one h1 tag on one page and another h1 tag on another web page within your website. I will also show you how to open the HTML coding file we created previously since it has been converted to an HTML web design file instead just a regular notepad file. It's also important to try to include keywords or phrases in your headings so that the search engines can determine what type of content your web page is about and thus give you relevant ranking based on that information. Where should the script tag be placed in html

09:40
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2014/11/where-should-script-tag-be-placed-in.html In this video we will discuss, where should the script tag be placed in the html. Should it be placed in the body or head section of the page. In general the script tag can be placed either in the head or body section. Let's look at a few examples : Example 1 : Script tag in the head section [html] [head] [script type="text/javascript"] alert("Welcome to JavaScript Tutorial"); [/script] [/head] [body] [form id="form1" runat="server"] [/form] [/body] [/html] Example 2 : Script tag in the body section [html] [head] [/head] [body] [form id="form1" runat="server"] [/form] [script type="text/javascript"] alert("Welcome to JavaScript Tutorial"); [/script] [/body] [/html] In Example 1 we placed the script tag in the head section and in Example 2, we placed it in body section. In both the cases JavaScript works as expected. Example 3 : Sets the background color of the TextBox to red. [html] [head] [/head] [body] [form id="form1" runat="server"] [asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server"][/asp:TextBox] [/form] [script type="text/javascript"] document.getElementById("TextBox1").style.backgroundColor = "red"; [/script] [/body] [/html] Example 4 : This is same as Example 3, except we moved the script tag to the head section. In this case the script will not work as expected. Depending on the browser you are using you get one of the following JavaScript error. Firefox - TypeError: document.getElementById(...) is null Chrome - Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'style' of null IE - Unable to get property 'style' of undefined or null reference To see these JavaScript errors press F12 which launches developer tools. F12 works for all the 3 browsers. [html] [head] [script type="text/javascript"] document.getElementById("TextBox1").style.backgroundColor = "red"; [/script] [/head] [body] [form id="form1" runat="server"] [asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server"][/asp:TextBox] [/form] [/body] [/html] Why did the JavaScript did not work in this case JavaScript code is present before the textbox control. By the time the JavaScript code is executed, the textbox is still not loaded into browser DOM (Document Object Model). This is the reason JavaScript can't find the textbox and throws a NULL reference error. In Part 6, we discussed that, in general it is a good practice to store JavaScript in an external .js file. So, if the JavaScript is present in an external file and if you are referencing it on a page using [script] element, where should such [script] element be placed. To answer this question, first let's understand what happens when a browser starts loading a web page. 1. The browser starts parsing the HTML 2. When the parser encounters a [script] tag that references an external JavaScript file. The parser stops parsing the HTML and the browser makes a request to download the script file. Until the download is complete, the parser is blocked from parsing the rest of the HTML on the page. 3. When the download is complete, that's when the parser will resume to parse the rest of the HTML. This means the page loading is stopped until all the scripts are loaded which affects user experience. In general, the suggested good practice is to place the [script] tag just before the closing [body] tag, so it doesn't block the HTML parser. However, modern browsers support async and defer attributes on scripts. These attributes tell the browser it's safe to continue parsing while the scripts are being downloaded. But even with these attributes, from a performance standpoint it is still better to place [script] tag just before closing [body] tag. According to HTTP/1.1 specification browsers download no more than two components in parallel. So, if the page has several images to download and if you place [script] tags at the top of the page, the script files start to download first which blocks the images download which adds to the total page load time.

HTML CSS TUTORIAL FOR BEGINNERS - multiple pages

09:09
Setting up multiple pages in HTML + CSS is easy, there are just a few gotchas to be careful of! VIEW THE CODE: https://next.plnkr.co/edit/PKoGCHFcccpCoIIx You'll start by creating multiple HTML pages. They can be in the same folder, or in their own folder, it doesn't matter, you just need to know where to point to them. Then, you simply make A tags to point to them. In HTML, when referencing a file, beginners tend to make 2 mistakes - they don't spell the file name right (or use capital/lowercase letters on accident) OR, they don't point to the right location for the HTML/CSS file. If the HTML or CSS file is in a folder, you need to reference the folder as well. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Also watch: "Responsive Design Tutorial - Tips for making web sites look great on any device" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgOO9YUFlGI -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

HTML Tutorial: Page Formatting

03:49
Watch more HTML Tutorials videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/480438-HTML-Tutorial-Page-Formatting "Hi, I am Daniel Davis. I am a certified computer expert and tech guru. Along with having one of the top tech channels on youtube, my work has also been featured in textbooks, software guides, and hundreds of popular tech blogs. And today I am going to be talking to you about HTML. Html is the coding language that webpages are written in. To create a basic webpage all you need is a text editor, such as notepad in Windows or Text Edit in Mac and a web browser. Html separates the different sections of the webpage using what's called markup tags. These are characterized by angled brackets. Within the website you'll see a head section and a body section. The body section is where the content of the webpage goes. To add text to your webpage, you can use the p markup tag for paragraph. Add your text and then close off the markup tag like this. In order to align the text to the page you need to add what's called an attribute to the p tag that reads align equals center or right or left depending on how you want it align it. By adding a font tag you can add size and color attributes to change the size and color of the font. Anytime you want to preview your webpage just save it as an html file and open it up in a web browser. Likewise to add a picture, you can add an img markup tag and use the src attribute to set it equal to the image location. You can use the center tags to align it to the center of the page. By adding attributes to the body tag you can change the settings for the entire page. For instance you can set the background color , the background image and the text color from here. When it comes to formatting pages, the basic approach would be to add page breaks like this which breaks the content into separate lines. Or you could use horizontal rules like this, which separates content using a horizontal line. A more advanced way though would be to use tables. To create a basic table you start by adding the table markup tags, then in between them you can add the row markup tags. You can add an opening and closing row tag for however many rows that you want in the table. Then in between each row tag, you want to add the data cell tags which will create the columns. If I add 2 columns to the first row then to keep the table even, I need to add 2 columns to each of the remaining rows. It's in between these td tags that you'll place your content. Like with all the other previous markup tags, you can add attributes to change the look of the tables, such as the background color, the border size, cell padding and alignment. If you want the table to be invisible, just set the border size to zero. Another option you have for organizing your content is through using lists. There's 2 types of lists, numbered or organized listed denoted by the ol markup tag, and bulleted or unorganized lists denoted by the ul markup tag. Each item in the list will be surrounded by li markup tags to show that they are list items. So that should get you started with getting your webpage data formatted and organized. "

Kompozer Tutorial 3: Creating CSS Files and Linking them to HTML

04:20
In this tutorial I show you how to create an external CSS file and link it to an HTML file in Kompozer. First, we have to create the CSS file. Kompozer doesn’t have a way to create a CSS file from scratch; however, the Mac version can be used to create CSS files. Kompozer assumes a CSS file exists. To create a CSS file, simply open a simple text editor like Notepad. Then save the file as a CSS file by using the .css extension, for example, styles.css. Make sure you change the file type so it doesn’t save as a text file. Save the file to the directory where your other website files are located. To attach the CSS file, open an HTML file, click on the CSS button at the top of the program and click on the arrow next to the picture of the pallet. You will then click Choose File and browser to your CSS file. You will then click the create button. This will create a link tag in the HTML document. To create a style, click the CSS pallet again. Click on the external file that was just attached. Click the arrow next to the pallet and choose style rule. You can choose tag, class, and ID selectors from the menu. You can then use the Kompozer dialog boxes and tabs to change the CSS styles for the HTML page. You can also manually enter CSS rules.

CSS Tutorial — 3 ways to write CSS in an HTML page (2/13)

06:11
CSS Tutorial — 3 ways to write CSS in an HTML page (2/13) Before we write any CSS I want you to know... all browsers already have a bunch of CSS in them. The reason why H1 is bigger than P without you writing any CSS, is because the browser comes with a set of default styles. You can see these in Chrome if you just inspect element say on an H1 (so right click, inspect element) and go down to the styles tab. Here they are. I’ll tell you what they mean soon. They might be slightly different from browser to browser. But they do exist. So now that we know that, it’s time for us to write our own styles. There are 3 ways to change the styles of your page. First one is Inline styles. This means within HTML, using an attribute directly added to your elements. I tell you why that’s a terrible idea here. But here’s an example just so you know how it’s done. I take this header tag and I’ll add a style attribute, then I’ll say color is blue. Done. You can see it change but this is bad. Don’t do this. The second way is through actual CSS. Which is a much better idea. You can write your CSS inside a STYLE tag, usually in the HEAD. Whatever you put inside a STYLE tag the browser will treat as CSS. Here’s a basic CSS formula. About 90% of your CSS statements look like this: Selector… {... }... style property… : …. style value…. Sina, what…. the fuck…. Are you talking about? Alright Let me explain. A selector is what part of your HTML you want to style? Which elements. You have the select them first. And we’ll talk about selectors a lot in the next video. There’s all kinds. So for now let’s say a P selector. This will style all your paragraphs with the following styles. Style property is things like Color, Font-size, Background, Border, that kinda thing. So let’s say color which will change the color of the text. COLON. This is almost like the = sign, Style value, for example, red. This is it. You just turned all your paragraphs red. So let’s recap: Select all my p tags, change their COLOR, to RED. That’s it. You can replace any of these three to whatever you want (As long as it makes sense, you can’t say color should be small, or font-size, blue. It has to make sense). So for example: you can instead target all H1s. Or instead of COLOR you can change the BACKGROUND COLOR, and instead of RED, change it to GREEN. So then... it becomes a game of how these 3 things play together and choosing the right combinations. Writing styles in a style tag is alright I guess... but there’s an even better way. Which is to create a separate CSS file dedicated to your styles, and load it into your HTML using a LINK tag. This isn’t a LINK that the user can click on or anything like that, so don’t be tricked by the name. It just means we are linking the HTML to the CSS file. So let’s create a CSS file and move our styles there. DEMO 1 - This is the way we’re gonna do it from now on, because it separates the template (the HTML), from the styles (the CSS). This way things are clean and clear, and you know exactly where to look to find things. And you’ll have 2 small files instead 1 big one, which is hard to navigate, as your site grows. You can also mess around in Chrome Dev tools and manipulate your styles at run-time. Here’s what I mean by that... DEMO 2 - So next we’re gonna look at Selectors and what different types there are. K? BAAAAA

HTML Tutorial: Adding & Styling Images & Text

02:39
Watch more HTML Tutorials videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/476886-HTML-Tutorial-Adding-and-Styling-Images-and-Text Hi, I am Daniel Davis. I am a certified computer expert and tech guru. Along with having one of the top tech channels on youtube, my work has also been featured in textbooks, software guides, and hundreds of popular tech blogs. And today I am going to be talking to you about HTML. HTML is the coding language that webpages are written in. To create a basic webpage, all you need is a text editor, such as Notepad and Windows, or Text Edit in Mac, and a web browser. HTML is characterized by using markup tags to classify and group different parts of a webpage. Tags are denoted by angled brackets that enclose the tag name, and they generally come in pairs, one before the object and one after. The closing tag having a forward slash. A basic webpage has 2 sections, a head and a body. The body is where the visible content of a webpage goes. To add text, you wanna use the p tag to show that it's a paragraph. If it's header tags, you can use the preset header tags. These go from H1 to H6. Each one being a different text size. Other format tags include B for bold, I for italicized, and U for underline. To preview it, save it as index.html using the file type of all files in Notepad or webpage in Text Edit, and open it up in a browser. Another way to style your tags is through text is through tag attributes. An attribute adjusts the parameters of certain tags. For instance, if I wanted to align the text to the center of the page, I can add the align attribute to the P tag and set it equal to center in quotes. If I add a font tag around my text, I can then add font attributes such as size, face, and color. Using tag attributes, you can also add pictures to your webpage. But before we can do that, you'll need to find a picture that you wanna use and place it in the same location that you saved your webpage to. Then add an image tag where you want the image to appear in the body of your page, and add the SRC attribute and set it equal to the name of the picture. To align it to center, you'll need to add some center tags around it. Now save it and refresh your browser to preview the page.
