Funny Face movie clips: http://j.mp/1CXZGDy BUY THE MOVIE: http://j.mp/KAqAX2 Don't miss the HOTTEST NEW TRAILERS: http://bit.ly/1u2y6pr CLIP DESCRIPTION: Jo (Audrey Hepburn) appears in her new look, to the delight of Dick (Fred Astaire) and Maggie (Kay Thompson). FILM DESCRIPTION: This filmed version of the 1927 George Gershwin Broadway musical Funny Face utilizes the play's original star, Fred Astaire, and several of the original tunes, then goes merrily off on its own. Astaire is cast as as fashion photographer Dick Avery (a character based on Richard Avedon, the film's "visual consultant"), who is sent out by his female boss Maggie Prescott (Kay Thompson) to find a "new face". It doesn't take Dick long to discover Jo (Audrey Hepburn, who does her own singing), an owlish Greenwich Village bookstore clerk. Acting as Pygmalion to Jo's Galatea, Dick whisks the wide-eyed girl off to Paris and transforms her into the fashion world's hottest model. Along the way, he falls in love with Jo, and works overtime to wean her away from such phony-baloney intellectuals as Professor Emile Flostre (Michel Auclair). The Gershwin tunes include the title song, "S'wonderful", "How Long Has This Been Going On" and "He Loves and She Loves"; among the newer numbers is Kay Thompson's energetic opener "Think Pink". For years available only in washed-out, flat prints, Funny Face was eventually restored to its full Technicolor and VistaVision glory. FILM DESCRIPTION: In an adaptation of Choderlos de Laclos' novel, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Kathryn Merteuil (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Phillippe) are step-brother and step-sister living in Manhattan. With their absent parents travelling in Europe, the wealthy pair have the family penthouse to themselves as they while away their summer break before beginning senior year at a private high school. Sebastian, bad-boy lothario, has apparently slept with all the girls in town and appears numb to it all. Kathryn, who appears to be the good girl class president, is actually far more amoral and malicious than Sebastian, but maintains appearances to the contrary. When she is dumped by her boyfriend, Court Reynolds (Charlie O'Connell), for the innocent Cecile Caldwell (Selma Blair), she schemes revenge by destroying Cecile's reputation. She challenges Sebastian to deflower Cecile and transform her into a tramp to humiliate Court. Sebastian isn't as interested as Cecile -- she's spent her whole life in a Catholic girl's school and presents no challenge. The girl who has caught his attention is Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon), the new headmaster's daughter. Annette had written an article for Seventeen Magazine on her plans to stay a virgin until she finds her one true love. Kathryn makes a wager. If Sebastian fails to lure Annette into bed before the summer is over, Kathryn gets his car. If he succeeds, Sebastian gets Kathryn, whom he wants anyway. Sebastian accepts the bet, but Annette turns out to be more than either of them bargained for. When the photo session is over the store is left in a shambles, much to salesgirl Jo Stockton's dismay. Avery stays behind to help her clean up. Later, he examines the photos taken there and sees Jo in the background of one shot. He is intrigued by her unique appearance, as is Maggie Prescott, the editor of a leading fashion magazine. They offer Jo a modeling contract, which she reluctantly accepts only because it includes a trip to Paris. Eventually, her snobbish attitude toward the job softens, and Jo begins to enjoy the work and the company of her handsome photographer.

On How To Be Lovely (from the movie Funny Face, lyrics at the description)

02:44
from one of my favorite movies performed by Kay Thompson and Audrey Hepburn I own none of these :) Lyrics: MAGGIE. Just listen and repeat after me: MAGGIE / (--JO--) / BOTH. On how to be lovely (--On how to be lovely--) You got to be happy (--You got to be happy--) When you can feel light and gay Then you'll be lovely as a holiday. On how to be charming (--On how to be charming--) You got to be merry (--You got to be merry--) If only to weave a spell And you'll be lovely As a carousel too. I (--I know you can--) show how. It's (--it's all in the--) know-how. And (--and once you know--) oh how The world looks good to you As it should to you. On how to be lovely (--On how to be lovely--) You got to be jolly (--You got to be jolly--) When you can be fancy-free And flash a smile that Folks come flocking to see. You'll be as lovely As can be. Do-wee-oo Do-wee-oo-ee Do-wee-oo Do-wee-oo-ee Do-wee-oo Do-wee-oo Boo-diddly-ba-bau! Ee- Do-wee-oo Do-wee-oo-ee Do-wee-oo Do-wee-oo-ee Do-wee-oo Do-wee-oo Boo-diddly-ba-bau! (--Boo-diddly-ba-bau!--) Boo-diddly-ba-baa-pa-daa! Can't (--can't do it with--) make-up You (--you've just got to--) wake up And (--and startin' to--) take up A life delirious Nothing serious. On how to be lovely (--On how to be lovely--) You got to be cheery (--You got to be cheery--) I'll give you a guarantee You don't need dough You don't need a college degree. Make sorrow incidental (--Let joy be monumental--) And you'll be lovely Do-wee-oo Do-wee-oo(---ee--) Do-wee-oo Do-wee-oo(---ee--) You'll be as lovely As can be A-do-ee-oo-ee-oo-ee-oo!

Film Review 3 - Funny Face

03:06
Funny Face is a movie from 1957 starring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire. Hepburn plays a brainy bookseller that is obsessed with the concept of empathicalism. Astaire plays a fashion photographer, a character inspired by a real fashion photographer, Richard Avedon. Astaire’s character “discovers” Hepburn’s character, and convinces her to try out being a model by coming with him on a photo shoot to Paris. Even though her book-smart character has no interest in fashion, she agrees only because a favorite philosopher of hers is lecturing in Paris during the same time. While in Paris, Hepburn’s character blossoms into a confident model. and Hepburn and Astair’s characters fall in love. Audrey Hepburn’s and Fred Astaire’s age difference is only slightly noticeable in this film. Hepburn is 30 years younger than Astaire. Givenchy gowns are highlighted in this film during the main photo shoot in Paris. Hepburn favored Givenchy. She once spoke of him saying, “His are the only clothes in which I am myself.” The iconic dress in the Breakfast At Tiffany’s opening scene is also a Givenchy dress. I watched this film on Kanopy. https://www.kanopy.com/ Check if your public library or university partners with Kanopy. They provide less-mainstream, more educational films and videos for free.
