Amalfi Coast Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
https://www.expedia.com/Amalfi-Coast.d180060.Destination-Travel-Guides The Amalfi Coast stretches for 30 miles along the southern coast of the Sorrentine Peninsula in Southern Italy. There are some places that are so famous and so legendary that even before you set foot there, it feels familiar. The Amalfi Coast or “road of a thousand bends” is one such place. This route has attracted society’s rich and beautiful for thousands of years and inspired some of the world’s greatest artists and writers. The area’s largest city, Amalfi is a great place to begin this legendary journey. A wealthy and powerful town during medieval times, merchants here were amongst the few who had gold coins to spend instead of the barter system used throughout the rest of Italy. Visit the magnificent buildings that reflect that early wealth. Positano is perhaps the best known destination on the coast. A favourite of celebrities since the 1950’s this town glitters with old-world glamour. From Marina Grande Beach, most of the paths lead right to the town centre and the Byzantine Santa Maria Assunta. Visit the Terraces of Infinity, at Villa Combine, a view so stunning that the famous american writer, Gore Vidal called it “the most beautiful view in the world.” Before it’s medieval glory days, the Amalfi Coast’s charms drew the Roman aristocracy. With its endless sunshine, mediterranean colours and a landscape of gripping drama and breathtaking beauty, the Amalfi Coast truly is a legendary destination.

Italy Travel Guide - Visiting the Coastal Town of Sperlonga
Take a tour of Italian Town of Sperlonga in Sperlonga, Italy -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. On the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea rests the opulent Italian town of Sperlonga. Sperlonga is a prime destination for divers and fishermen, but is most renowned for its rich history. In ancient Roman times, the town was a resort which housed the extravagant villa of Emperor Tiberius. Near this famous villa is an ancient grotto where archaeologists found Roman sculptures depicting the legend of Odysseus. Visitors can tour the lush nature reserve running along a rocky beach as they make their way to the villa and grotto. Though known as an ancient resort, Sperlonga is still a key retreat for those looking for both adventure and relaxation.

ITALY, spectacular LAKE GARDA and the historic VENETIAN TOWN of RIVA
SUBSCRIBE: http://www.youtube.com/c/VicStefanu - Let's visit the spectacular Lake Garda which is the largest lake in Italy. It is a popular holiday location and is located in northern Italy, about halfway between Brescia and Verona, and between Venezia and Milano. Glaciers formed this alpine region at the end of the last Ice Age. The lake and its shoreline are divided between the provinces of Verona (to the south-east), Brescia (south-west), and Trentino (north). The name Garda, which the lake has been seen referred to in documents dating to the eighth century, comes from the town of the same name. It is the evolution of the Germanic word warda, meaning "place of guard" or "place of observation." We will visit Riva del Garda which is located at the north-western corner of Lake Garda, approximately 70 metres (230 feet) above sea level. The town is located at the southern edge of the Italian Alps, near the Dolomites. It is bordered by Monte Rocchetta to the west and Monte Brione, 376 metres (1,234 ft) above sea level, to the east. East of Riva del Garda is the village Torbole, bordered by Monte Baldo. Riva del Garda belonged to the Republic of Venice, the Bishopric of Trent, the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy and later (1815–1918) to the Austro-Hungarian empire. During the Third Italian War of Independence, Riva del Garda was an important supply base for the Austrian navy and was only town on the lake to be taken by Italian forces. Since the end of World War I (3 November 1918), Riva del Garda, with the rest of the Trentino, became part of the Kingdom of Italy. ✏︎ AMALIE'S INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/amaliejamil/ ✏︎ JOEN'S INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/stayclassydk/ So we decided to go visit Scilla, which is known to be the most beautiful town in Italy. At least that was what we had heard before coming to the little town. Having looked at few photos of the town online, we weren't entirely sure that it was the most beautiful place in Italy, but we knew it was up there. And Scilla truly is a beautiful town. There is so much authenticity and genuine raw beauty, which is hard to compete with in these modern days, as traffic tourism jam is getting worse and worse. Of course there were tourists to be found in Scilla, but most of them are Italians who just lay on the beach, which means you get to explore the narrow streets and sea crack views without human pollution. And that is what made us fall in love with Scilla. Next time we will be renting an airbnb and stay in this town a few days. Hopefully the airbnb we pointed out actually is an airbnb. That would be awesome! :) ♫ MUSIC ♫ ▻ Tajima Hal - Hello Again https://tajimahal.bandcamp.com/ ▻ Joey Pecoraro - Your Favorite Place https://joeypecoraro.bandcamp.com/ NEW HERE? - We're Amalie and Joen. Sardinia Italy - The Bluest water in the world
😘 P L E A S E • S U B S C R I B E - 💃 🕺 http://bit.ly/2B0UXdt Sardinia Italy is one of the most beautiful places in the world! As we walked along the coastline of Sardinia, the smell of fresh bougainvillea permeated the air as though we had entered a secret serene garden. The sun shined down onto the crystal clear cerulean Sea, illuminating the waters and creating a sparkle effect, dancing in unison on the surface. This was not the Italy we knew before. This was an entirely new world to explore. This was Sardinia. Just south of Corsica France, Sardinia’s coast had been beckoning us to visit for years, as though it knew we would fall in love with this Mediterranean island lifetimes before stepping onto it. The northeastern coastline of Sardinia, known as the Costa Smeralda, is notorious as the playground for sailing and the rich & famous. Yachts flood the glamorous town of Porto Cervo in the summer months and create an alternate utopian universe for Europe’s bourgeois to rub shoulders. While the Costa Smeralda may be known as the summer playground for the elite, there is so much more that it offers. Porto Cesareo, Town in Puglia, Italy (UNDERWATER)
Porto Cesareo is a town and comune in the Italian province of Lecce in the Apulia region of south-east Italy. The area around the sea of Porto Cesareo is a beautiful example of "Maquis Shrubland". Beyond the importance of nature, the sea of Porto Cesareo is of fundamental traction for tourism thanks to the presence of a sandy bottom that remains low for tens of meters and more transparent waters recalling Caribbean atmospheres, as well as due to the large and very long beaches.[2] The coast is characterized by numerous capes, islets and reefs, among which is of particular importance the Big Island, also known as the "Island of rabbits".[3] The great natural and economic consequence of Porto Cesareo wealth is still represented by the totality of its sea, so valuable that its protection is a National Marine Park was established.[4] In 1971, Prof. P. Parenzan (from the Museum of Marine Biology) found Iris revoluta (a rare species of Iris) on the islet of Mojuso near Porto Cesareo in the gulf of Taranto, Southern Italy.[5] Thank you for watching my video. Certified Italian language courses by the sea
In 1993 the Italian language school in Tropea was founded originally as the Caffè Italiano Club. Then, in 2004, the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research Department officially recognised the school as an accredited Italian language school and the name was changed to the Piccola Università Italiana. The Piccola Università Italiana is one of the few certified Italian language schools in Italy and the only certified language school in Calabria. Our mission statement is to immerse the student/vacationer, as much as possible, into southern Italian culture to facilitate the acquisition of Italian reading, writing and speaking skills under the tutelage of qualified native Italian speakers. Fifteen years of experience guarantee professionalism in every detail. Our Ministry of Education certified courses are tailored to meet the individual needs of each student. Therefore, class size is limited from 3 to 6 students encompassing 11 language course levels. The Piccola Università Italiana is situated in the heart of the old town of Tropea, a charming medieval town right by the sea. Tropea lies on the same latitude as the famous Aeolian Islands. Italians affectionately refer to Tropea as the "Pear of Calabria". Tropea was built on a 42 m high rock and never fails to charm everyone with its romantic, winding streets. Here you find unspoilt natural landscapes with lush green vegetation, forming a magnificent contrast with the turquoise crystal-clear water of the sea. The weekly cultural programs include guided excursions to points of particular interest in Calabria and Sicily or to Campania to see the ancient ruins at Pompeii. In addition, we organize classical music concerts at school, motorboat trips, hikes in the Aspromonte mountain range, mountain bike excursions, horseback riding on the beach, dining and musical entertainment provided by local musicians and much, much more. During the summer months, you many choose to spend your leisure time just swimming and sunbathing on the pristine white sandy beaches gently kissed by a warm, turquoise coloured sea. Whatever your preference, it is a perfect way to combine work and pleasure.

An Italian town's wall of division - 21 Jan 08

While another said “A strong message has arrived to me. Day 2 brought some amazing landscape scenery for the drone, turned out being an epic day! FOLLOW ME - Instagram: @adamspiresvlog Facebook: @adamspiresvlogger Deemed an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape by Unesco, the Amalfi Coast is one of Italy's most piercing destinations. Here, mountains plunge into the sea in a nail-biting vertical scene of precipitous crags, cliff-clinging abodes and verdant woodland. Its string of fabled towns read like a Hollywood cast list. There's jet-set favourite Positano, a pastel-coloured cascade of chic boutiques, spritz-sipping pin-ups and sun-kissed sunbathers. Further east, ancient Amalfi lures with its Arabic-Norman cathedral, while mountaintop Ravello stirs hearts with its cultured villas and Wagnerian connection. To the west lies Amalfi Coast gateway Sorrento, a handsome cliff-top resort that has miraculously survived the onslaught of package tourism. Turquoise seas and postcard-perfect piazzas aside, the region is home to some of Italy's finest hotels and restaurants. It's also one of the country's top spots for hiking, with well-marked trails providing the chance to escape the star-struck coastal crowds. How Migrants Learn to Love the Sea They Once Feared
In Messina, a seaside town in Sicily, Italy, water is a constant companion and a way of life. But for the thousands of migrants who arrive from Africa and the Middle East by boat, the sea is a perilous means to an end and a villain who has taken lives right before their eyes. To help newly arrived young migrants from Messina’s Nautical Institute adapt to their new seaside home, Giuseppi Pinci and his team teach them to swim, scuba dive and, hopefully, fall in love with the water they once feared. SLOVENIA, the pretty medieval town of KOPER (or, CAPODISTRIA in Italian)
SUBSCRIBE: http://www.youtube.com/c/VicStefanu - Let's go visit the historic city of Koper (Italian: Capodistria) which is a port city in Slovenia, on the country's Adriatic coastline. Its medieval old town centers around Titov Trg, a square with such Venetian-influenced landmarks as the Praetorian Palace and a Gothic-style loggia. Nearby Da Ponte Fountain is a replica of Venice's famed Rialto Bridge. Rebuilt many times, the circa-12th-century Cathedral of the Assumption features a tall campanile with sweeping bay views. Croatia Sailing Trip | Part 8 | VIS Island - Komiža town | Stiniva Beach
Part 8 video footage of Our Croatia sailing trip shows some sight seeing from the Island of VIS, its marina mainland shore and Fort George along with a swim stop in the beautiful Stiniva beach. Vis is a small Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea. The farthest inhabited island off the Croatian mainland, Vis had a population of 3,617 in 2011. Vis has an area of 90.26 square kilometres (34.85 square miles). Its highest point is Hum, which is 587 metres (1,926 feet) above sea level. The island's two largest settlements are the town of Vis on the island's eastern side (the settlement for which the island was originally named) and Komiža on its western coast. Once known for its thriving fishing industry in the late 19th and early 20th century, the main present-day industries on the island are agriculture and tourism. Vis town and Komiža are also seats of separate administrative municipalities which cover the entire island and nearby islets, which are both part of Split-Dalmatia County. In 2017 Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again was filmed on location on Vis. Vis was inhabited by the time of the Neolithic period. In the 4th century BC, the Greek tyrant of Syracuse, Dionysius the Elder, founded the colony Issa on the island. Later, it became an independent polis, and even minted its own money and founded its own colonies, the most notable of which was Aspálathos (the modern-day city of Split). In the 1st century BC, the island was held by the Liburnians. Its importance in the region ended with the first Illyro-Roman war (29-219 BC). Having sided with Pompeus during the period of civil struggles in Rome, became an "oppidum civium Romanorum" in 47 BC. Until 1797, the island was under the rule of the Republic of Venice. During this time large settlements developed along the coastline (Comisa (now Komiža) and Lissa (now Vis)). Administratively, the island of Lissa was for centuries bound to the island of Lesina, now named Hvar. The Venetian influence is still recognizable in architecture found on the island, and some vocabulary of the Croatian dialect spoken locally is Venetian in origin.[citation needed] After the short-lived Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy, with Italian as the official language, the island was ruled by the Austrian Empire from 1814. It maintained its Italian name of Lissa. After the end of World War I, it was under Italian rule again in the period from 1918 to 1921, according to the provisions of the 1915 Treaty of London, before it was ceded to Kingdom of Yugoslavia as part of the 1920 Treaty of Rapallo. The sea to the north of the island was the location of two battles: on 13 March 1811, a small Royal Navy squadron under the command of Captain William Hoste, defeated a larger French squadron in the Battle of Lissa (1811) on 20 July 1866, the smaller Austrian fleet, under Admiral Tegetthoff, attacked the Italian fleet, under Admiral Persano, defeating the larger Italian force and sinking the Italian ironclad Re d'Italia in the Battle of Lissa (1866). 6.5-Magnitude Earthquake Leaves Devastating Aftermath in Italian Town
The 6.5-magnitude earthquake which struck central Italy on Sunday has reduced an entire town near the epicenter to a mere pile of rubble. In San Pellegrino, a small town of 150 people only 10 kilometers away from the epicenter, was filled with collapsed or damaged buildings. All the walls cracked and alleys were blocked with debris. The damage brought by Sunday's earthquake added to the havoc wrecked by the back-to-back tremors on Oct. 26, and a 6.0-magnitude earthquake on Aug. 24 which killed nearly 300 people and flattened entire villages. Many residents have left, but some have decided to stay in temporary shelters set up near the town. "There are over 50 of us. We won't leave our homes. No matter what happens, we will stay, because we want to rebuild our town," said Orsini Rizziello, a resident of the town. Those who chose to stay have to endure possible aftershocks and the lowering temperature. "I wasn't like this before. I was not afraid of earthquakes. But now, even the smallest of tremors make me scared," said Rizziello. Dozens were injured in Sunday's earthquake, which was centered in the mountainous area in central Italy that straddles Marche and Umbria regions. The quake was the strongest of its kind to hit the country in more than three decades. No deaths have currently been reported. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20161102/8035669.shtml#!language=1 Subscribe us on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CCTVPlus CCTV+ official website: http://www.cctvplus.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus

Tropea - Calabria, Italy
http://www.moorings.com/vacation-options/bareboat-yacht-charter/destinations/mediterranean/italy Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, the Aeolian Islands (also known as the Lipari Islands) are situated just above Sicily at the southern edge of the Tyrrhenian Sea, an arm of the Mediterranean 475 miles in length and 60 miles wide. Corsica and Sardinia to the northwest, Elba Island to the north, and the boot of Italy to the east make up its borders. The Aeolian archipelago -- Lipari, Salina, Stromboli, Panarea, Filicudi, Alicudi, and Basiluzzo -- is rugged, beautiful, and mostly undeveloped. Thirty nautical miles from Stromboli, the easternmost of the Aeolians, is the Calabria region of southern Italy and the picturesque harbor of Tropea, where the Moorings base is ideally located for the start of a Calabria sailing vacation. Sailors enjoying a more lengthy Calabria yacht charter can also visit Palermo, the capital of Sicily, and the Egadi Islands to the west of Sicily.

Cinque Terre Tour (Italy) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Cinque Terre Tour in Italy. Extending south to Tuscany, Italy’s mountainous western coast on the Gulf of Genoa is Liguria, a picture book area with paradisiacal cliffs, remote villages, bucket loads of sunshine and a region known as, Cinque Terre, that comprises five villages. Monterosso Al Mare is the first and largest of the five villages that comprise Cinque Terre, on the route south. It extends across two bays and two districts, separated by a rock. The modern district of Fegina has a long waterfront promenade, a well-kept sandy beach and a good range of accommodation. Vernazza is considered to be the most beautiful of the five villages mainly because of its location within a splendid bay. Corniglia has no direct access to the sea, but extends along a massive rocky plateau about a hundred metres above the sea. On the hilly outskirts is the San Pietro Church, built in 1334, with an elegant, decorated facade and a rose window of Carrara marble. The beauty of Manarola is not obvious at first glance. From the station, a narrow street leads down towards the village. Fishermen continue to earn their living here, and there are holiday apartments as well as several souvenir shops that satisfy the demands of the many tourists who visit. In Riomaggiore, a mighty ledge separates the station from the village and watchtowers still bear witness to its chequered past. According to legend, it was founded in the eigth century by Greeks who escaped to Italy from persecution by Byzantine Emperor, Leo The Third. Travelling by train from village to village is a relaxing way in which to enjoy the sights and provides exceptional views from the cliffs to the sea and villages. In just a few minutes it is possible to visit these colourful coastal villages that were formerly difficult to access from the outside world. -------------- Watch more travel videos ► https://goo.gl/MXPgSs Join us. Italy: Yachts washed ashore after storm ravages Ligurian seaside town
Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe The Ligurian seafront town of Rapallo awoke to scenes of devastation on Tuesday, after a violent storm struck late on Monday night. The storm was so powerful it caused the collapse of the harbour's protective reinforced concrete breakwater, leaving the vessels in the bay defenceless. Motorboats, sailboats, and superyachts, including one reportedly belonging to the family of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, broke their moorings and were left battered, beached and some even sunk by the storm.
