In this video are some indepth tips and tricks I have accumulated and put to use on clients to help women begin weightlifting! These tips are really not just women but ANYONE looking to get into weightlifting and where to start! Weightlifting in your first few sessions can be awkward and uncomfortable since you are learning so many new forms and techniques while incorporating weight. Having a few tips and tricks to help get the ball rolling and you into the right direction will be what you need to keep you heading towards your goals! I did not want this video to be too long so if you have any other questions as a beginner, comment below and I will try and get back to you asap. p.s Also keep in mind that these are general beginner tips and EVERYONE will have different weightlifting journeys and goals, but this is an overall good way to start and get your technique down! p.p.s The rep ranges I suggest are to get you comfortable with using weight, building endurance, and working on form and technique - after a few weeks you should alter your rep ranges to suit your goals- whether that be building size, strength, or endurance! I also forgot to mention in the video that start with 2 - 4 sets per exercise depending on how you feel and how many exercises you plan on doing (less exercises = more sets / more exercises = less sets) Every last 2-3 reps of a set should be challenging but able to keep control. xx. ———————————————————————————— FOLLOW ME: INSTAGRAM - @HunterrChiltonn ———————————————————————————— EMAIL: (Business Inquiries) [email protected] ———————————————————————————— Subscribe so you never miss a workout! There are more than 10 reasons why Women should lift! But in today's video I highlight 10 of the most significant benefits that I and many of my women clients have seen from training with weights. When I say "lift weights" this can even refer to lifting your own bodyweight, as in pushups, dips, squats or lunges, you do not need to use barbells, dumbbells or machines to gain these benefits yet I do recommend you do so to increase & speed up your results. If you're unsure of where to begin or how to lift you should immediately download my program written specifically for women Live Lean Formula for Women: www.liveleanformulaforwomen.com This guide will walk you step-by-step through how to lift and which exercises are most effective allowing you to get all of your workouts done quickly and efficiently. Lifting is about more than building muscle, although it undoubtedly helps carve a killer physique. See All Six Reasons: http://bbcom.me/1UTxXkM There's no question about it; women should lift. It's about more than looking good in the mirror, although it'll likely make your curves pop. Lifting weights can transform you from the inside out and change things for the better. I spend a lot much time coaching women on how to change their bodies, but I focus on more than their physiques. I teach them how to improve on the inside to reflect their lifestyle changes. Lifting has changed my body and life for the better, and I want all of you to experience the same. Here's a quick rundown of the key reasons you should be lifting, too. REASON 1 TO BOOST YOUR CONFIDENCE The number one reason women should lift is for the confidence boost. I have so much more confidence now in my mid-30s than I ever had growing up. When I first started training, I'd freeze when I walked into a gym. If I wasn't with my husband or a friend, I had no idea what to do. Even if I knew what machine to use, I was worried people were watching me or that I wouldn't know how to adjust the settings. Every doubt was running through my head, and I didn't have the confidence I needed to get in a great workout. Now that I've been lifting for years, I feel like I own the gym when I walk in. I love that feeling. It's taken some experience, but if you just keep going to the gym and keep lifting, you'll build up your confidence. You're going to walk into the gym, use the equipment you need, and kill your reps and your sets. And you know what? So what if people are watching? They probably want tips or want to know how you're doing what you're doing. Nothing feels better than when you're in the gym with that kind of confidence. Outside of the gym, I can't even go grocery shopping in a tank top without women and men stopping me, complimenting me, and asking what I do. It's just really neat to be able to say, "I lift." It's as simple as that—I go the gym, and I lift. It's so rewarding to put on a dress or your favorite pair of jeans and have those curves. You feel good about your body and walk out there in the world knowing that you look and feel great. REASON 2 TO EAT MORE CARBS Who doesn't love to eat? When you lift, you get to eat all the carbs. Well, maybe not all the carbs you want, but a lot of carbs. If you're lifting with intensity at the gym, you have to eat. You won't have a successful workout if you aren't properly fueled. Still, a lot of women are scared of carbs and wonder if upping their intake will cause them to gain weight. I have good news for you: It won't if you're lifting with intensity and have consistency in the gym. You need those carbs to change your physique. So, if you have carbs all day long on a leg day, your body will use up every drop of that to grow and maintain muscle. That's a pretty darned good reason to eat carbs and lift weights. REASON 3 TO SCULPT ALL THE RIGHT CURVES Lifting weights is going to put muscle on your body, change your shape, and change the way you fit into your clothes. Cardio alone is not. A lot of women get caught up in spending hours in the gym on the treadmill. Don't get me wrong—it's important to do cardio. I do cardio, but lifting weights has definitely added curves I didn't know could exist on my body. My butt and glutes have grown. I have awesome legs, and I'm not scared to show them off. I love wearing my favorite pair of jeans or just my leggings—especially when I can see my developed hamstrings peaking through. REASON 4 TO BURN MORE CALORIES The best part of lifting is the afterburn affect, or EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption). When you do cardio only, you're burning fat but not really building muscle. When that cardio session ends, the fat burning stops. When you lift weights with intensity, you're burning fat and calories, too. Your metabolism rate has increased, and you're burning calories all day long—even after your gym session is over and you're home resting. I don't know about you, but I'm really into burning fat while I sleep. The more muscles you have, the more calories you burn. It's as simple as that. REASON 5 TO STRENGTHEN YOUR BONES While you might not be concerned with it just yet, women are at higher risk than men for osteoporosis, which means a higher risk for fracturing and breaking bones. A great way to minimize that risk is by lifting weights with intensity. I don't mean a few reps here and there on machines and a little circuit training; I mean intensity. Get into the gym—you can use machines, you can use cables, you can use dumbbells, or you can get into the squat rack—whatever is comfortable for you. Just lift weights, and whatever you do, go hard. You will build muscle mass, increase your bone density, and increase your strength, which will help you later in life.

You can also do these workouts at home. So if you’re a beginner and you want to start lifting weights, but unsure where or how to start, be sure to watch this video through. 1) Dumbbell Squats Muscles: Glutes, hamstrings, quads and core. Weights: Between 5 – 8kgs each or more. 2) Alternate Overhead Lunge Muscles: Glutes, hamstrings, quads, core & shoulders. Weights: Between 5 – 8kgs 3) Bent-Over Row Muscles: Back & Biceps. Weights: Between 5 – 8kgs 4) Chest Press Muscles: Chest, Shoulders & Triceps. Weights: Start with 4 – 6kgs each. 5) Bicep Curl to Shoulder Press Muscles: Biceps, Shoulders & Triceps. Weights: Choose something lighter but not too light, between 3 – 5kgs each. 6) Tricep Kickbacks Muscles: Triceps. Weights: Go for a lighter weight, between 2 – 4kgs each. 7) Reverse Fly Muscles: Upper Back & Shoulders. Weights: Go for lighter weights, between 2 – 3kgs each. 8) Full Extension Muscles: Upper & Lower Abs. Weights: Between 4 – 6kgs. 9) Russian Twist Muscles: Core and Obliques. Weights: Between 4 – 6kgs. Perform all 9 exercises as a Total body strength-training workout in about 45 minutes. Follow them in the sequence I’ve laid out in this video. Aim to perform between 12 – 15 repetitions per exercise. If you can do more than 15 reps, then the weights are too light and you need to increase them If you are an absolute beginner, then complete 2 sets for each exercise before moving on to the next exercise. As you progress, aim to complete between 3 – 4 sets. If you’re looking to buy dumbbells, as a beginner, I’d recommend buying 2 pairs of dumbbells. One heavier pair, between 5 – 6kgs each and another lighter pair, between 3 – 4kgs each. It’s always better to buy a heavier pair because then you can train and progress into lifting heavier. You don’t have to spend your money on buying really light dumbbells, because you can easily make them at home using water bottles. All the best! xx

If you are a woman working out you need to see this - http://athleanx.com/x/leannotbulky One of the biggest reasons women tend to shy away from lifting weights is the fear that doing so will make their muscle bulky. It's actually a valid concern since most women don't want to have big, thick muscular legs or thick muscular waists and therefore avoid workouts that cause this. In this video, we are out to dispel the myth that women working out with weights will cause them to get unnecessarily bulky muscles. We will show you that in fact, shying away from using heavier weights is actually one of the biggest women's workout mistakes you can make! When the goal is to develop lean, toned muscles that look good in any dress, pair of shorts, or t-shirt then you want to be sure that you are not just focusing on cardio workouts and instead are getting in a consistent dose of strength training. Strength training for women consists of lifting weights that are challenging to your muscles. If the weight that you are lifting is not challenging or heavy enough to cause a change in your muscles, then your body is going go look unchanged and all of your hard work will not be rewarded. The problem is, most women who work out tend to stick to just the cardio machines like the treadmill, stairclimber, etc in the gym and never dare to enter the free weights zone! They think that being there and lifting weights like heavy dumbbells will be the fastest way to get bulky muscles. This cannot be further from the truth. The fact is, women need to work out with weights. It's not only good for your muscle tone and shape but also for the health of your bones. The Athlean-XX for Women Training System is centered around the use of more significant dumbbells than just 2 and 3 pounders! We know that if we can get ladies to work out with dumbbells and with heavier weights that we can help them to develop lean, attractive muscle tone in a shorter period of time. In fact in just 90 days, the Athlean-XX for Women program helps our women get more healthy, toned muscle which gets them feeling stronger and more fit than ever before. To find the program be sure to head over to http://athleanxxforwomen.com/getlean In the meantime, for other videos on healthy nutrition for women, workouts for women and supplements for women be sure to subscribe to our channel here on youtube at http://youtube.com/user/womensworkouts. So, I cannot wait to share it with you guys. A question that I often get is what is the difference between cardio and strength training, which is better and how do I incorporate both? There's no easy way to answer that question, but the difference between cardio and strength training is that one is aerobic, which is cardio and one is anaerobic. During aerobic exercise, the body draws on glycogen and/or fat for energy. During anaerobic exercise, the body cannot draw easily on fat stores. The mistake that people often make is that they'll do their cardio workout before their strength training workout. If you think about it, from a common sense perspective, why is that bad? Well, if you exhaust your legs by running or on the elliptical or whatever, then you try and go lift heavy weights or do squats or any other weight bearing activity, you're already going to be fatigued from doing your cardio first. That said, you should always warm up, but you only need five to ten minutes. Now, if you do your cardio after your strength training workout, the body is depleting its glycogen source. So, it's drawing on glycogen because it can't draw on fat. Okay, great, you power through your strength-training anaerobic workout. Now you move on to your cardio. But what's going to happen is because you've, hopefully, depleted your glycogen stores when you were doing your anaerobic workout, when you go to do your aerobic workout, the body goes, "Hmm, let me go to the fat stores for energy." Ideally, in the best case scenario, that's what's going to happen. During your anaerobic strength-training routine, if you're working on a specific muscle group or a specific body area, let's say you're working on your lower body, you're doing some heavier leg work and there's weights involved, and your legs are tired after that strength-training workout, for your cardio following that, if you're going to do cardio following that, you don't want to go do high intensity interval sprints. Because your legs are already tired and that can increase your risk of injury. Ideally, you want to separate. The cardio that you do, you don't want it to be focused on the same body parts that you just worked during your strength-training workout, if you're going to do those two things back to back. If you're working on your upper body, don't go sit on the rowing machine afterwards because your upper body is already tired. So, just use common sense. That's a little tip. Aerobic activity isn't just for burning fat. There are different types of cardio that you can do. You can do high intensity intervals. For fat burning, you can do long lengths of running. If you're a marathoner, half-marathoner, a lot of people who do that. That's not something that's necessarily for fat burning, or muscle toning, but that's more to increase your endurance and stamina exercise. There's different types of cardio that you can do. There's high impact cardio, which would be running, and there's low impact cardio, which would be something like swimming, which is safe for anyone and great if you're rehabbing or you have an injury. So, lots of different types of cardio to do. Obviously, you saw on our other videos, lots of different types of strength training that you can do to increase muscle mass, you can do strength training to burn fat, you can do strength training just to get stronger and more fit. So, there's no one reason to do any of those things and that's the beauty of it. You need both cardio and strength training to round out your fitness routine. One is not better than the other. They're just different. Your body responds differently and you need them both. So, get to work.

Should girls lift weights? I have a background in martial arts and I’ve spent most of my childhood doing free body exercises. I used to be one of those guys crazily against using “equipment” for fitness. There was a point in my life where EVEN I had notions like “weights make you bulky”, “weights are dangerous” In the summer of 2012, I was overweight, unhealthy and I was just recovering from my 3rd surgery in 3 years. I’d popped both my rotator cuffs in my shoulders thanks to a long term Judo injury. I’d lost a chunk of the range of movement in my arms and even my physiotherapists had given up on me. That’s when I went “Why not give weight training a try?” And it changed my life. Fixing my arms was just the beginning. Its been a while since then. But this journey has been goddamn magical. I’m all about general fitness. I feel even a simple morning walk counts as some kind of fitness. Its always better than doing nothing. But weight training, in my honest opinion, is the fastest, most efficient and most effective path to overall health. Keep in mind, before I took up weight training, I was eaily the unhealthiest guy you’d ever meet. This activity has given me benefits that I could only dream of. Forget the external benefits like an aesthetic body and muscle strength. The biggest thing I’ve gotten from lifting weights is peak physical health. And there’s a deep science behind that. THAT is what today’s video is about. Ladies, I know SO MANY OF YOU, who’re looking for ways to get fit. Some of you don’t even consider doing weight training because of the myths you’ve grown up hearing. “Makes you bulky”, “Causes injuries” , “Only good for men”. YOU are AS HUMAN as me. In fact, I guarantee YOU are healthier than I was when I started out. If this could take me from where I was to where I am, it can do even bigger things for you! You’ve been given ONE body for your entire life. You OWE it to your body to at least be aware of what fitness opportunities are potentially out there for you. I am not trying to convince anyone about anything here, but I am trying to educate women on what they might be missing out on. Today’s video aims to demolish myths and bring to you 100% completely legit information about the BENEFITS applicable to you – A WOMAN. Some of these concepts apply to men as well, so all you guys reading this, definitely give this video a watch. But girls, YOU NEED TO KNOW what’s out there, waiting to take your body to its maximum potential. Watch and learn.
