It’s one of the most influential pieces of American cultural history – MAD Magazine. The first issue was released almost 70 years ago, bringing with it a revolution in satire that was later widely imitated, but seldom equaled. For most of this time, MAD has held on to a dedicated staff of illustrators and editors. But now, all that’s about to change. Our Culture Correspondent Maya Margit sat down with the magazine’s art director, Sam Viviano, in this exclusive interview. Filmed in part by Evgeny Bronfermacher Edited by Vic Uchitel

I take a look at the Landmark FINAL ISSUE! of Mad Magazine. What, Me Worry? no there's no need to as Alfred E. Neuman will return in a new relaunch issue out on the 18th April. Mad (stylized as MAD) is an American humor magazine founded in 1952 by editor Harvey Kurtzman and publisher William Gaines, launched as a comic book before it became a magazine. It was widely imitated and influential, affecting satirical media, as well as the cultural landscape of the 20th century, with editor Al Feldstein increasing readership to more than two million during its 1974 circulation peak. From 1952 until 2018, Mad had published 550 regular issues, as well as hundreds of reprint "Specials", original-material paperbacks, reprint compilation books and other print projects. The magazine will revert back to 1 after the April 2018 issue. The magazine is the last surviving title from the EC Comics line, offering satire on all aspects of life and popular culture, politics, entertainment, and public figures. Its format is divided into a number of recurring segments such as TV and movie parodies, as well as freeform articles. Mad's mascot, Alfred E. Neuman, is typically the focal point of the magazine's cover, with his face often replacing that of a celebrity or character who is lampooned within the ► Recurring features in Mad (magazine) Fold-ins The Lighter Side of… Spy vs. Spy Don Martin gags "A Mad Look at…" and "Drawn-Out Dramas" Movie and TV show parodies ► Alfred E. Neuman is the fictitious mascot and cover boy of the American humor magazine Mad. The character's face had drifted through U.S. iconography for decades before being claimed by Mad editor Harvey Kurtzman in 1954. Early on he was known as the "Me Worry?" kid and was later named Alfred E. Neuman by the magazine's second editor Al Feldstein in 1956. Since his debut in Mad, Neuman's likeness has appeared on the cover of all but a handful of the magazine's 550+ issues, distinguished by jug ears, a missing front tooth, and one eye lower than the other. His face is rarely seen in profile; he has virtually always been shown in front view, directly from behind, or in silhouette. ► Spy vs. Spy video game (1984) Spy vs. Spy was a game first published by First Star Software in 1984 for the Atari 8-bit family, Commodore 64 and Apple II computers. It was a two-player, split-screen game, based on MAD Magazine's long running cartoon strip, Spy vs. Spy, about the slapstick antics of two spies trying to destroy each other with improbably complex and elaborate traps and weapons. It was later ported to a much wider range of platforms including the Sega Master System. ► Up the Academy Mad Magazine Presents Up the Academy is a 1980 American teen comedy film with a plot about the outrageous antics of a group of misfits at a military school. At the Sheldon R. Weinberg Academy, four young teenagers are sent to school and learn the discipline that the school teaches. Almost immediately, they don't like what is going on. Along the way, they plan their own actions from looking for girls to holding a party without the faculty's knowledge. ► Cast Ron Leibman as Maj. Initially, EC was privately owned by Maxwell Gaines and specialized in educational and child-oriented stories. Later, during its period of notoriety, it was owned by his son, William Gaines. ★ Also available in this Loch video series ☆ WHY I STILL LOVE THE AMIGA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co6qy7zRpP8 Remember to Subscribe for more videos like this one http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-x4bTqQxUbhcP1v8Fnia1Q?sub_confirmation=1 Why I still Love Mad Magazine © 2018 Copyright - The Loch - The Legends of Cherry Hill

Entertainment reporter Tim Estiloz profiles the unbelievable true story of how "comic books" were literally banned and burned in 1950's America. Author David Hajdu - tells in his critically acclaimed book, "The Ten Cent Scare: The Great Comic Book Scare and How It Changed America"... how comic books were seen as a dangerous tool that corrupted America's youth. Congress even held hearings into the evils of comic books. This is a fascinating little known story ... that resonates today. This interview was conducted and produced by Tim Estiloz. It originally aired on the entertainment news TV program, "Backstage" - seen on CN8 The Comcast Network. See more of Tim Estiloz' entertainment videos on "You Tube" under the title "FilmFanTV".... and be sure to subscribe. This was also intended to be restricted to Mad Magazine. They've done some very funny stuff on comics and superheroes. But again, the Internet at large, Worth1000.com, and even comic producers like Marvel have done some pretty funny stuff thumbing superhero noses. If you take your marvelous superheroes seriously, you may not enjoy this. But if you like a good laugh, even at the expense of our caped crimefighters, sit back and relax. You may find a chuckle or two in here. Music is from Emmanuel Chabrier's "España."
