MANUFACTURING A PRODUCT | Episode 12 |

03:12
MANUFACTURING A PRODUCT | Episode 12 | In this episode of our journey to build a fashion business startup, we talk about the process of manufacturing a product. It's been roughly 1 month since we've started working with our manufacturers and it's the 3rd iteration of our bag. The first 2 involved determining the shape and construction. In this one, we use real materials to see how it comes together. This video was created a few weeks ago and since then we've done another 2-3 rounds of prototypes. All in all, it'll probably take us about 7-10 rounds to create the perfect backpack, but it's the process that counts. We're on a mission — to create Tools for Modern Productivity... starting with the perfect backpack. We couldn't find a backpack that was stylish and fashionable while having all of the functionalities that we needed for our busy, on-the-go lives. We set out to create a backpack that exemplified the modern professional lifestyle — a thoughtfully crafted backpack that can help you be more efficient and organized, while also providing you with the right style to match your aesthetics. We hope you enjoy this episode and our startup journey of creating a startup Leave us a comment, give us a shout out, tell us what you like and don't like. You're as much of a part of this journey as we are and we're looking forward to the ride. -- MANUFACTURING A PRODUCT | Episode 12 |: Be a part of our journey at www.ismbags.com (http://www.ismbags.com/). It's your support and feedback that makes all of this possible!

What is GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICE? What does GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICE mean?

08:11
I MAKE CUTE BABIES - https://amzn.to/2S0mT9u What is GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICE? What does GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICE mean? GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICE meaning - GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICE definition - GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICE explanation. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Good manufacturing practices (GMP) are the practices required in order to conform to the guidelines recommended by agencies that control authorization and licensing for manufacture and sale of food, drug products, and active pharmaceutical products. These guidelines provide minimum requirements that a pharmaceutical or a food product manufacturer must meet to assure that the products are of high quality and do not pose any risk to the consumer or public. Good manufacturing practices, along with good agricultural practices, good laboratory practices and good clinical practices, are overseen by regulatory agencies in the United States, Canada, Europe, China, and other countries. Good manufacturing practice guidelines provide guidance for manufacturing, testing, and quality assurance in order to ensure that a food or drug product is safe for human consumption. Many countries have legislated that food and pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers follow GMP procedures and create their own GMP guidelines that correspond with their legislation. All guidelines follow a few basic principles: Manufacturing facilities must maintain a clean and hygienic manufacturing area. Controlled environmental conditions in order to prevent cross contamination of food or drug product from adulterants that may render the product unsafe for human consumption. Manufacturing processes are clearly defined and controlled. All critical processes are validated to ensure consistency and compliance with specifications. Manufacturing processes are controlled, and any changes to the process are evaluated. Changes that affect the quality of the drug are validated as necessary. Instructions and procedures are written in clear and unambiguous language. (Good Documentation Practices) Operators are trained to carry out and document procedures. Cross contamination with unlabelled major allergens is prevented. Records are made, manually or by instruments, during manufacture that demonstrate that all the steps required by the defined procedures and instructions were in fact taken and that the quantity and quality of the food or drug was as expected. Deviations are investigated and documented. Records of manufacture (including distribution) that enable the complete history of a batch to be traced are retained in a comprehensible and accessible form. The distribution of the food or drugs minimizes any risk to their quality. A system is available for recalling any batch from sale or supply. Complaints about marketed products are examined, the causes of quality defects are investigated, and appropriate measures are taken with respect to the defective products and to prevent recurrence. Practices are recommended with the goal of safeguarding the health of consumers and patients as well as producing good quality food, medicine, medical devices, or active pharmaceutical products. In the United States, a food or drug may be deemed "adulterated" if it has passed all of the specifications tests, but is found to be manufactured in a facility or condition which violates or does not comply with current good manufacturing guideline. Therefore, complying with GMP is mandatory in all pharmaceutical manufacturing, and most food processing....

Innovation - Students of Product Design Episode1

12:49
This series 'Students of Product Design' is aimed at anyone interested in the product design process. This first episode looks at innovation, how to innovate and how simply changing the structure of the brief can impact on how innovative you can be. This series won't just talk about stuff, the plan is to share with you as many of the things I have learnt in the last 15 years (or so..) as possible through each stage of the design process to help you become far better designers than I can ever be. I'll be looking at research, sketching, model making, portfolios and a whole load of other things. I often think of youtube as a speed learning tool. Have you ever seen the Matrix films where Neo first learns martial arts by uploading a programme to his head or Trinity learns to fly a helicopter in minutes, that's how I see Youtube, Youtube is our version of the Matrix. So this series which is primarily aimed at students studying industrial design, product design or design engineering in university is designed to do just that, give you a knowledge boost to hopefully make your projects, designs, presentations and portfolio a lot better to improve your chances of getting a position as a designer, or your projects if you want to start your own company, anything related to design. I also hope with the content, that everyone will be able to take something away from it as many of the tips I'll give over the course of this series will be applicable to lots of areas of life. There's just isn't enough out there on product design, compared to say cookery shows it's very under provisioned and so I'm trying to redress the balance. I have a lot more planned, so please be patient, stay tuned and follow me, so that you can be alerted to when the next video is launched. www.producttank.co.uk

The Cost of Design Changes in High-Volume Manufacturing | Simplexity Product Development

02:23
Read more at http://bit.ly/2kykqT6. Dorota Shortell, CEO at Simplexity, describes the exponential relationship between design changes and the cost of your design; about 75 percent of the cost of the product is dictated by the initial design and the architecture that's chosen. Visit us at http://www.simplexitypd.com/next-steps Find us online: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/simplexity-product-development-inc-?trk=top_nav_home Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SimplexityPD Twitter: https://twitter.com/SimplexityPD Some companies come to us and they have a prototype already developed and they say, “hey can you guys just look at this prototype, work out any bugs, and release it for high-volume manufacturing.” Now while that sounds great and sounds really easy, most times when that happens that prototype really isn’t designed and ready for high-volume manufacturing. And companies often wonder “well why not, we have one that works, why can’t we just make a hundred thousand of them?” And really the key is in understanding design and the design process, is that there’s things that you have to bake from the very start, you have to bake those in and you have to understand how to design a product, how to design a part for the right manufacturing processes that will be used at the end, and you have to do that right at the beginning. So not only do you have to think about, is the part going to be machined or molded, you have to think about how it is going to be assembled, how is it going to be tested? Those disciplines together designed for manufacturing, designed for assembly, designed for test, are now known as ‘DFX’. And looking at DFX is a big component of having a successful product that’s going to be able to scale for high-volume manufacturing. One of the other things that’s also important is the components that are actually in that design and in that prototype. So if someone selects a sensor that costs ten dollars, it’s an industrial sensor, not realizing that the cellphone industry for example, has the exact same functionality, maybe not quite the industrial specifications, and it only costs fifty cents, you have to start over and do some work again ultimately saving money at the end. So when should you start considering design for high-volume manufacturing? Right now, if you haven’t started it start right now no matter where you are in the design process. The longer you wait the more it’s going to cost. There’s an exponential relationship. Design changes upfront don’t cost that much, but once you start tooling and manufacturing, each design change starts costing you more and more and more. About 75% of the cost of a product is dictated by the initial design and the architecture that’s chosen. To find out more about design for high-volume manufacturing, please visit simplexitypd.com Simplexity provides engineering design services across a range of industries. Our "simpler is better" engineering approach reduces costs while improving the lifecycle of your product, saving you money in development, manufacturing and product sustainability. We understand the most important challenges which is why we have mastered cost reduction while maintaining the most innovative industrial, consumer, and biotech engineering solutions.

Manufacturing Quality Control: The difference Between Product and Process Audits

00:31
Read the full blog post: bit.ly/ProductOrProcess Imagine you’re a supplier seeing a troubling spike in returns over a component with high failure rates. After a lengthy investigation and millions in warranty costs, you discover certain workstations haven’t been heating a product element to the right temperature. Having already distributed tens of thousands of faulty components, you realize the problem is far from over, putting your most important contracts at risk. How does this happen, even with a robust system of product audits? The simple fact is that product inspections don’t always catch process issues responsible for defects. And while quality checks in manufacturing tend to center on product audits, process audits are just as (or even more) important to quality. Let’s look at the difference between product and process audits, and how they work together in the big picture of quality.
