20. PMP | What is Project collect requirements process | ITTO | Input, tools and techniques, output
Lets explore about Collect Requirements process in this PMP project management tutorial video. Collect Requirements is the process of determining, documenting, and managing stakeholder needs and requirements to meet project objectives. The key benefit of this process is that it provides the basis for defining and managing the project scope including product scope. Requirements can be grouped into classifications allowing for further refinement and detail as the requirements are elaborated. These classifications include: Business requirements: which describe the high level needs of the organization as a whole, such as the business issues or opportunities, and reasons why a project has been undertaken. • Stakeholder requirements, which describe needs of a stakeholder or stakeholder group. • Solution requirements, which describe features, functions, and characteristics of the product, service, or result that will meet the business and stakeholder requirements. Solution requirements are further grouped into functional and non-functional requirements: Functional requirements describe the behaviors of the product. Examples include processes, data, and interactions with the product. Non-functional requirements supplement functional requirements and describe the environmental conditions or qualities required for the product to be effective. Examples include: reliability, security, performance, safety, level of service, support ability Transition requirements describe temporary capabilities, such as data conversion and training requirements, needed to transition from the current ,"as is" state to the future ,"to be" state. Project requirements, which describe the actions, processes, or other conditions the project needs to meet. Quality requirements, which capture any condition or criteria needed to validate the successful completion of a project deliverable or fulfillment of other project requirements.

What Techniques Do Business Analysts Use?
This KnowledgeKnugget™ (KK) is part of an eCourse "Business Analysis Defined". VIEW COURSE OUTLINE at http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/video-course-business-analysis-defined/. Also available as Paperback or Kindle eBook at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K7MM50O/. DESCRIPTION: Although the field of IT Business Analysis offers great career opportunities for those seeking employment, some business analysis skills are essential for any adult in the business world today. For example, the task of defining the requirements for an IT solution is handed to Business Analysts as well as Subject Matter Experts, Developers, System Analysts, Product Owners, Project Managers, Line Managers, or any other business expert. Applying business analysis techniques to define their business needs results in much higher chances for a successful IT project. In this KnowledgeKnugget™ you will learn what business analysis techniques and tools are most commonly used around the world based on surveys of actual business analysts. This KnowledgeKnugget™ answers questions like: 1. What are the primary activities in business analysis? 2. What tools or techniques do they use? To view more IT requirements training, visit the Business Analysis Learning Store at http://businessanalysisexperts.com/business-analysis-training-store/. PARTIAL TRANSCRIPT: Business analysis is the process of studying a business or any other organization to identify business opportunities / problem areas and suggest potential solutions. A wide range of people with various titles, roles and responsibilities actually apply business analysis techniques within an organization. There are three fundamentally different flavors or levels of business analysis: 1. Strategic Business Analysis (aka Enterprise Analysis) (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/strategic-business-analysis/ ) 2. Tactical Business Analysis (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/tactical-business-analysis/) 3. Operational Business Analysis (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/operational-business-analysis/Operational Business Analysis) Strategic Business Analysis is the study of business visions, goals, objectives, and strategies of an organization or an organizational unit to identify the desired future. It encompasses the analysis of existing organizational structure, policies, politics, problems, opportunities, and application architecture to build a business case for change. This analysis employs business analysis techniques such as Variance Analysis, Feasibility Analysis, Force Field Analysis, Decision Analysis, and Key Performance Indicators to support senior management in the decision-making process. The primary outcome of this work is a set of defined, prioritized projects and initiatives that the organization will undertake to create the desired future. If the initiative includes the development of software using an Agile Software Development Methodology (SDM) (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/business-analysis-agile-methodologies/), strategic business analysis techniques identify themes and/or epics, and initiate a product backlog. Tactical Business Analysis is at the project or initiative level to flush out the details of the proposed solution and to ensure that it meets the needs of the business community. Commonly used business analysis techniques at this level include Stakeholder Identification (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/how-to-identify-stakeholders-it-projects/), Interviewing (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/requirements-elicitation-gathering-business-stakeholder-it-requirements/), Facilitation (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/how-to-facilitate-requirements-gathering-workshops/), Baselining, Coverage Matrices, MoSCoW Analysis (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/requirements-prioritization-two-simple-techniques/), Benchmarking, Business Rules Analysis, Change Management, Process and Data Modeling (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/business-data-modeling-informational-requirements/), and Functional Decomposition (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/video-course-exposing-functional-and-non-functional-requirements/). In an Agile environment, Tactical Business Analysis adds to the Product Backlog and/or Release Plans expressed in Themes, Business Epics, Architecture Epics, User Stories (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/video-course-writing-user-stories/), and User Story Epics. In a traditional setting, the primary outcome of Tactical Business Analysis is a set of textual and/or modeled Business and Stakeholder Requirements (http://businessanalysisexperts.com/product/video-course-writing-requirements/). ..........

Improve Your Requirements with Visual Models
Delivering thousands of “system shall” requirements statements alone is dangerous because it is impossible to ensure requirements are complete and correct, and developers simply won’t read them. This presentation will discuss the value of visual requirements models, give you a few impactful models you can use immediately on any project to improve your requirements. In addition we will demonstrate how each of these models can be defined and managed in Blueprint, a modern requirements definition and management application. As a takeaway, we will also give you a models “quick reference” to use on your own projects. LEARNING OBJECTIVES 1. Model business processes and user interface screen display and behaviour requirements. 2. How to identify missing requirements, ensure coverage across multiple models, and cut requirements from scope. 3. How to automate visual modeling of requirements using modern technology.

PLM-Integrated Requirements Management
One thing is certain: Nothing changes faster than customer requirements! At every point of time, successful development projects are keeping track of the valid set of requirements, finding contradictions in those requirements and linking requirements to tests to verify the accuracy of their implementation. These functionalities are usually supported by tools for Requirements Management however these tools do not support the reference to product structure and the overall set of product information within a PLM system. Customizations of PLM systems as well as on-board requirements modules could be one solution. Another is to integrate requirements management tools with PLM. PLM systems can be used to support the traceability from requirements to tests to BOMs. On top of that there are new methods to describe product specifications in the early phase, for example Model-Based Systems Engineering which tries to accomplish real early phase support by using modelling languages such as SysML. With introducing MBSE the first step is called integrated requirements management. Case study: Integrating requirements and test-case management with PLM Exploring the global PLM challenges of a mid-size company Taking the first step to Model-Based Systems Engineering This session took place at PI Düsseldorf. Connecting SysML with PLM/ALM, CAD, Simulation, Requirements, and Project Management Tools
A driving force for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) has always been the goal of a single, unified model representing the system, from which all the required documents and views could be derived. The reality is that engineering organizations store system data across a range of tools and repositories from multiple vendors. A SysML model may be an effective high-level roadmap and clearinghouse for the Total System Model, but it must be robustly connected at a fine-grained level to all the other models in other tools if it is to support the MBSE vision. The session demonstrates Syndeia is an existing Intercax product which supports a robust network of connections between models in different tools. In our presentation, we will demonstrate a variety of specific use cases involving MagicDraw SysML connecting with PLM/ALM, CAD, simulation, requirements and project management tools. The role of standards, including REST, OSLC, FMI and STEP, in creating such connections will be addressed. Finally, some perspectives on the future of MBSE and Syndeia’s positioning within that future will be offered.

How To Write User Stories | UX Tutorial
Want are User Stories and how do you write them? In this UX tutorial for beginners I show you how! ____ In this video I go over what user stories are, how to write them and how to use them to create a product using an agile workflow. What is a User Story? It's a short, simple description of a product feature, told from the perspective of the person who wants that feature or as a potential/existing user of a product or service. They are used to define the product backlog in an Agile development workflow. The product backlog is a collection of user stories that drives feature development for a product or service. How do you Write a User Story? They are composed of 3 parts: - #1 User persona - #2 The feature the user requires - #3 The need satisfied by that feature Example: As a (user) I want a (feature) so that I can (satisfy a need). What is an Epic? An epic is essentially a very big user story which likely includes many other smaller user stories. Example (Airbnb): I want to find holiday destinations and travel abroad. Let's break own this example: Step 1 : Write our epics Epic #1 As a user I want to discover new and interesting destinations Epic #2 As a user I want to book accommodation in a foreign city. Epic #3 As a user I want to create an experience in a foreign city Step 2 : Break these epics into smaller stories ____ LEARN HOW TO START A CAREER IN UX WITH THIS FREE GUIDE: https://bit.ly/2xuYDDE ____ CREATE USER STORIES Sticky notes - http://amzn.eu/hDUuw9a Sharpie marker pens - http://amzn.eu/jhbAm8w FAVE UX TOOLS Webflow - https://webflow.com/ UX Pin - https://www.uxpin.com/ Balsamiq - https://balsamiq.com/ InVision - https://www.invisionapp.com/ Trello - https://trello.com/ Lucid Chart - https://www.lucidchart.com/ ____ Check out my social for more UX tips: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/robertsmith.co/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/robertsmith_co

Requirements Engineering for Agile Product Owners by Steve & Pavel
Hunting value through conversations. This is a skill that helps Product Owners when working with stakeholders, analysts and requirements engineers. Start with identifying your project partners, and use the 7 Product Dimensions (user, interface, activities, data, control, environment and quality attributes) to uncover correct requirements for your product. Understand how you can use it to focus on value, deliver value and optimise value. Unfortunately all too often, many Product Owners do much of their work alone. We want the participants to experience the power of the conversation structured to hunt value through a specifically designed dojo, and we want to create better awareness of good requirements engineering practices. This session is intended to help Product Owners and Business Analysts create better requirements and to help them have richer and more powerful conversations. The session is based on the work of Ellen Gottesdiener and Mary Gorman’s “Discover to Deliver” as well as the work of James Shore and Diana Larsen’s Agile Fluency Model. Requirements Change Management in Integrated Environment
Learn more at: http://www.nomagic.com/mbse/ Requirements management is the major starting point of systems engineering. SysML allows transferring requirements and storing them in the model. However, in many cases requirements are created or managed in an external source. That’s why tools’ interoperability and change management are so important for efficient project development. The session demonstrates: Requirements import and update using various standards and tools: * Microsoft Excel and Comma Separated Value format * Requirements Interchange Format and OMG standard (ReqIF) * Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) * Cameo DataHub (for interoperability with Rational DOORS) Capabilities for requirements change management: * Suspect links * Comparison at element level * Review and commenting (using Cameo Collaborator) * Workflows (using Cameo Collaborator) * Forma approvals (using Cameo Collaborator) The session is hosted by Dr. Saulius Pavalkis, Director, Product Development at No Magic, Inc.

Each of the requirement levels is useful for a different time in your project or initiative. This KnowledgeKnugget™ answers questions like: 1. What do we mean with requirements? 2. What flavors of requirements are interesting for IT projects? ABOUT THE ECOURSE: The eCourse “Business Analysis Defined” describes how business analysis is currently practiced. Product Management View Webinar Series - Understanding Requirements Concepts
VIEW THE FULL PRESENTATION HERE http://grandview.rymatech.com/2007/114-understanding-requirements-concepts.html We are in the midst of a requirements crisis. Some companies are producing multiple requirements documents (MRDs, PRDs, and SRSes) but still neglecting key nonfunctional requirements. The line between requirements and design remains elusive to many product managers, inhibiting innovation. Developers code to specs but lose sight of the problems that customers want solved. Part of this crisis stems from confusion over requirements terminology and concepts. What, precisely, is a requirement? What is the difference between a functional requirement and a nonfunctional requirement? How can we differentiate requirements from design? Roger will answer these and other questions with the help of a conceptual model of requirements terminology.
