RISM online catalog -- A quick guide
This brief video will give you an overview of the RISM online catalog, an international database of musical sources which is available free online at http://www.rism.info/ and https://opac.rism.info. Visit the online catalog help page at https://opac.rism.info/index.php?id=4&L=1 for more information and to download a PDF version of this guide. View this video in HD for best quality. Transcription: Join me on a whirlwind tour of the RISM online catalog! An easy way to jump right in is to start with a simple search, such as Operas, and just browse the catalog. We have over 86,000 results, so let's refine these results using the filters on the left. Digitized music is at the top, followed by the genre, composer, source type, scoring (also called instrumentation), publisher, year, library siglum (which is where the sources are located), and series. Click on a filter to apply it. Now I have works for soprano and orchestra. If I wanted to, I could click the X to remove a filter. Your results are in the middle. Click on any record to get more detailed information. Information on the composer and other people is at the top. Click a blue link for more information: biographical information about the people, and bibliographical information about publications. Here you get an exact transcription of the title on the source, then information about its physical form such as score or parts. Incipits are frequently included. At the bottom of the record you will find the current location of this source. Help is located at the bottom of the page. Do you have questions or feedback? Leave them in the comments below, or send us an e-mail: [email protected]

CDFinder in the Network
https://www.cdfinder.de CDFinder is now called NeoFinder, and with a new Adobe XMP Editor, NeoFinder now really rocks! CDFinder is the powerful yet easy-to-use Digital Asset Manager for Macintosh and Windows http://www.cdwinder.de This amazing software catalogs any type of data (photos, movies, songs, documents), on any device (hard disk, CD, DVD, Blu-ray, USB sticks, server volumes, iPods, etc.) and offers powerful Find features to quickly locate your data. The extensive support of metadata (Adobe XMP, EXIF, IPTC, MP3, and more) also increases the abilities to locate our files anywhere. - Text Transcription: The affordable yet powerful media cataloger CDFinder can keep track of your photos, audio files, videos, and any other files and folders, regardless of where they are stored. Catalog CDs, DVDROMs, hard disks - internal and external, and much more with CDFinder, and quickly Find any valuable data. But you can also use this splendid asset management tool in your entire network, so that all users in the network can share a common CDFinder database! To set this up, you need to copy over your CDFinder Database Folder from your local Documents folder to a server disk. Use the „Reveal in Finder command to show you your current database folder. Then mount the server disk. Copy over your CDFinder database folder to the server. Then tell your CDFinder to use that folder on the server as its database folder, in the CDFinder Preferences. You need a CDFinder Business License for that, of course. CDFinder will then use that database folder on the server to store any new catalogs. If you set up all other installed CDFinder licenses in your network the same way, all users now share one common database folder for their CDFinder catalogs. That way you can quickly keep your entire network organized, and on the same level. And with the additional CDWinder for Windows, that is even possible on the „Dark Side as well. The setup is similar, just make sure that the database folder can be accessed by both Macs and Windows PCs alike. CDFinder even includes the option to keep track of the changes to the database folder on the server, so that all new or deleted catalogs are recognized quickly. Set this up in the Database Settings in the Special menu, and enter the speed you need. If your database folder changes very often, set the speed to FAST, otherwise, SLOW will reduce the network load on your server. And one more tip: You do know that CDFinder can catalog your server disks as well? We have had many clients telling us that the CDFinder search was so much faster than trying Spotlight on the server, if Spotlight was even supported at all... But CDFinder did that on the spot. CDFinder - Find your Files
https://www.cdfinder.de CDFinder is now called NeoFinder, and with a new Adobe XMP Editor, NeoFinder now rocks even more! CDFinder is the powerful yet easy-to-use Digital Asset Manager for Macintosh and Windows http://www.cdwinder.de The software catalogs any type of data (photos, movies, songs, documents), on any device (hard disk, CD, DVD, Blu-ray, USB sticks, server volumes, iPods, etc.) and offers powerful Find features to quickly locate your data. The extensive support of metadata (Adobe XMP, EXIF, IPTC, MP3, and more) also increases the abilities to locate our files anywhere. - Find your stuff with CDFinder The whole purpose of CDFinder is to find and locate your digital photos, movies, songs and other files, regardless of where they are actually stored.. To help you with that, there are plenty of ways to find your files. The first one is located right in the main window, called Quick Find. Type in what you are looking for, in this example search for "Supertramp". Hit return, and CDFinder shows you everything it knows about this famous Pop band. As you see, this includes songs, photos, and other items. Did you notice that CDFinder even found items that don't have the term Supertramp in their name? That is because Quick Find searches all fields in the database. In this case, the MP3 tags of this song file contained the band name in the Artist field. If you need more control over what CDFinder finds for you, the Find window is the place to go. Here you can set up the parameters for any query that CDFinder can handle. First, in this menu, you define in which catalogs CDFinder will search, either in all of them, or in those with a particular label, or in any selected catalog, or just the already found items or the catalog info. Then you set up what you are looking for. "Any Text contains" is essentially the same as the Quick Find. So let's get fancy: Tell CDFinder we only wish to see photos in our result. Here we go! Lots of concert photos of Roger Hodgson, the founder of Supertramp. Switch back the Kind to "Song" and get only music as the result. Some of my song files even already have cover art and lyrics! Then change the Type to Picture again, and in the first parameter, tell it to Find IPTC "Caption contains" Arizona. Surprisingly, we see photos taken at Pearl Harbour, Hawai'i. But the Inspector quickly tells us that this is the memorial of the battleship Arizona. Aha! Do yourself a favor and look at all the Find parameters that CDFinder offers for you. There are file name related options, anything you need for photos, IPTC, EXIF, plenty of stuff for audio (MP3 tags), the duration of songs and video, and much more. And since you can have up to 16 parameters in a single query, you will definitely be able to build the most intricate queries ever. One especially mighty option is the Path parameter, as that allows you to find any items located in certain folders and all their subfolders. Combined with other parameters, that is very helpful in locating files of a particular client, for example. And as a special treat, CDFinder even searches the Spotlight database of local files for you, if you wish. So you get the best of both worlds in one place! But that wasn't all! There is more! Use the context menu for any file, and you get a whole set of custom Find options to locate similar items. For photos, that contains date, name, and GPS options. For songs, the Find context menu contains artist, title, and album based stuff. This allows you to quickly search for related materials in CDFinder. Now, what can you do with the Found Items? Well, simply drag a photo from CDFinder into Apples Pages, or Microsoft Office, or Adobe inDesign to place it on the current document. Or drag a file into the Finder to copy it to that location. Or just hit the space bar in Leopard to open the QuickLook window for the file, if it is currently online. Or export all geotagged photos as KMZ. Or just reveal the file in the Finder. Or upload photos to the Locr community. You get the picture... And that isn't even all! CDFinder can launch a Find operation by using AppleScript, so you can for example access your CDFinder catalogs from a FileMaker Database. Also, CDFinder understands several URL query commands. Just click on one of the special links next to this video as an example. CDFinder - The Search is Over!

CDFinder QuickStart Tutorial
https://www.cdfinder.de CDFinder is now called NeoFinder, and with a new Adobe XMP Editor, NeoFinder now really rocks! CDFinder QuickStart Guide This is a quick introduction about what CDFinder does and how to use it. CDFinder is a digital asset management tool. Aaaah-ha. What that really means is that CDFinder knows where all your files are, digital photos, movie files, songs, documents, and so on. You say: Well, that is what Spotlight is doing? Right, but what about the files on external disks? As soon as you disconnect or unmount a disk from your Mac, Spotlight forgets about it immediately. But CDFinder remembers! So CDFinder is meant for your disk Library, your Archive, and Backup disks. And dont let the name CDFinder fool you, this mighty software catalogs anything that you can hook up to your Mac, hard disks, server volumes, iPods, USB Sticks, DVDs, CDs, and much more. Here is an example: You need to find a song named Give A Little Bit by Roger Hodgson (formerly Supertramp). You can simply type that name into the QuickFind field, hit return, and voila, here are the results. Of course, there are also non-song files here, because CDFinder will search each and every piece of information it got for that name. Now, it would be very cool if you could ask CDFinder only to show you song files with Give A Little Bit as the title, and even maybe also just songs of Roger Hodgson as the artist, omitting the tracks he did with Supertramp. Here you go. It is that simple! The cool Inspector window here shows you all the details that CDFinder knows about every selected item, also including all metadata. And Music isnt the only part in which CDFinder excels. What about photos? Youll get an entire set of powerful search options, including all EXIF and IPTC tags, of course. Movies? Sure! It is all there for you. So, how does CDFinder work its magic? You need to let CDFinder catalog every one of your disks once. CDFinder will quickly gather information about every item on the disk, and a lot of additional metadata that makes it easier for you to find your stuff later. And before you start cataloging, you really want to have a look at the CDFinder Preferences, and especially the Cataloging section. All these settings here greatly influence the cataloging speed, but also the amount of data that CDFinder has available to find your stuff. Then catalog your disks, one by one, simply drag it in, and CDFinder will catalog it. Or if you have an entire stack of disks, use the Batch Cataloging, and feed the disks, and let CDFinder catalog and then eject them for you. Very easy! What can you do if you have changed some files on an cataloged disk? Simply let CDFinder Update its catalog by selecting the catalog in CDFinder, and using the Update Catalog command. Then CDFinder will quickly go over the disk and pick up the changes. That is really simple. This was just an introduction. CDFinder can do so much more for you. We have more Video Tutorials for you, an excellent Users Guide for those who still read, and other cool resources in the Help menu of CDFinder And now enjoy this amazing library manager! The Ultimate Guide to Workflow in Lightroom and Photoshop
I Guarantee I Can Teach You to Master Photoshop. Learn How: https://phlearn.com/aaronwillteachyou #phlearnmethod - Photoshop Made Simple. Download Your Free 5 Pack Today - http://bit.ly/1GfvyEq The Ultimate Guide to Workflow in Lightroom and Photoshop Importing Images Into Lightroom The first step in your workflow will be getting your images from your memory card onto your computer. We prefer to use Lightroom for importing as well as file naming and structure. We choose to have Lightroom organize everything by date and convert to DNG when importing RAW files. DNG files take up less space on your hard drive and allow cleaner long term storage. File Structure and Naming After importing your files onto your computer or portable hard drive (we use a Promise Pegasus R4), it is time to get everything organized. We change the name of the main folder to include the theme from the photo shoot. In this example our folder is named "2014-05-27 Bahamas Shoot". After naming your main folder it is time to bring each of the images from the shoot together and create sub-folders for organization. We create 4 different subfolders titled "Capture", "Master", Selects", and "Output". The Capture folder is where all of the RAW images from the shoot are placed. When you complete a complex shoot it is often a good idea to create subfolders in the Capture folder that describe different parts of the shoot. In this example we use both "Landscapes" and "Portraits" The Selects folder is where your selects will go, usually exported as TIFs. This will help you to organize and quickly identify the best images from the shoot as well as get them in a file format ready for editing in Photoshop. The Master folder is where your layered PSD or TIF files will go. Anytime you need to go back and make edits to the file you will be accessing images from this folder. The Output folder is where images are placed after editing is complete. Images here are ready to be printed or uploaded to the web. Editing Images in Lightroom and Photoshop We use Lightroom for base editing techniques such as changing exposure, white balance, highlight and shadow levels and some base sharpening. After these changes are made to your selects it is time to export them to the Selects folder as TIFs. In Photoshop we open those TIFs from the selects folder and make our final edits. These Master files are then saved into the Master folder. You can use layered TIFs (our preferred file format) or PSD files. Your Master files should contain layers and should be easily editable. Exporting Images and Location After completing your edits in Photoshop and Lightroom you are ready to get your files on the internet. We export from Lightroom using JPEG and Convert to sRGB options. These final JPEGs are saved to the Output folder and named appropriately. Syncing Folders By now you have created new folders and files within each of those folders. Right click on the original folder in Lightroom, in this example it is named "2014-05-27 Bahamas Shoot". Click on "Synchronize Folder" and you will get a new import dialog, click "Synchronize". Now you will see each of your folders populated with the files you created and everything should be in its proper place. Now you have created a file structure that is robust and simple to access at any time. Years from now you will be able to go back to these folders and easily find what you are looking for. Lightroom is linked to your operating system so when you create folders in Lightroom they will appear on your computer as well. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for watching our free Phlearn Tutorials! a new software: home catalog
The software offers the following features: 1) Portability This feature required a special algorithm to calculate Relative Path to File, because any removable drive changes its name when moved from one computer to another , so the full path will lead to emptiness. It looks like an easy task in the first division, but I have never seen it solved in other projects.. 2) Copy-pasting of the hierarchic structure elements The only place where I saw it implemented was Microsoft Explorer. Other programmers seem to bypass recursive programing at all. 3) Up-and-down search for substrings For text files, up-and-down search is an easy task. But in a hierarchic structure, there is no "ups" or "downs" unless some mathematical model is involved. 4) Icons that match structure elements An ordinary object oriented programming. I wonder why there is no other program with such a feature. 5) Element search by icon An easy to implement, but I have never seen it in other projects. 6) Interface supports four languages:English, Hebrew, Russian, and French.
