This is fantastic! I tried seeding before and it didn't work for me. I can only grow in an apartment, I don't have a garden or yard. I guess I was impatient and not great at it. I think I'm going to need guidance or diy vid to show me exactly what I have to do with seeds. I've been looking for organic, non-gmo seeds from US only. I will check their catalogue. Thank you so much. Blessings to you and everyone on this thread.
ok I love your dry sense of humor... I actually laughed out loud when you were talking about your athletic fit t shirt that "shows how buff you are on a plant based diet"!!! lol... i get it...

Great information. Thank you for sharing this tour. I had no idea how much stuff other than seeds you could learn about and buy there in the Baker Creek Village.
Pinkenstein (6 months ago)
I'm growing so many of the varieties you pointed out! Crapaudine beet, Pusa Asita carrot, Jing Orange okra, purple Mizuna, Ice Queen lettuce and more I can't remember. I think if you saw my seed selection, or my garden, you'd definitely be pleased!
Pinkenstein (6 months ago)
The beet John couldn't pronounce is the Crapaudine beet, second from the right on the bottom shelf, hot pink and shaped like a carrot. It's actually the oldest known heirloom seed, dating back at least 1,000 years. I think that's just so, so cool! Our ancestors were growing and eating those very same beets back in the dark ages, and they've remained untampered with all this time! I'm growing some in my own garden, and I can't wait to try them! Thanks Baker Creek, for helping me feed my family, and thanks John, for teaching me how, and thanks Josh for selling the Boogie Brew pro deluxe kit! You all are changing lives everyday. ✊

The heirloom seeds are phenomenal I wish they had a hemp heirloom seed for sale i tried a Container full from Walmart and they are so protein-packed I put them on everything but I wish I knew how they were grown and what process they went through they will not disclose that information I wish it was more readily available as it is such a beneficial seed

Great video! Keep on doing videos like this :). It's nice to see where some of our seeds come from and to get recommendations on what to buy. The Baker Creek catalog is overwhelming and at the same time, buying interesting seeds from them is always an adventure.

I'm a fan of yours John but not of Baker Creek because they never sent me my seed order but took my money in Jan of this year :(

rae raz`el That is so odd for this company. It must be an oversight
rae raz`el (6 months ago)
Pinkenstein I did email them, try to hold them on the phone and had PayPal send them a message too
Pinkenstein (6 months ago)
rae raz`el Did you contact them about your order? I'm sure they would resolve the issue if they were made aware of it.

I get their catalogue, but I live in a short growing season area. They don't put number of days to maturity on any of their seeds which I find very odd. But I don't buy their seeds for that reason.
+Ian4tv I've ordered so many Baker creek seeds lol I'm addicted
Ian4tv (6 months ago)
many seeds have DTM listed in the item description on the website. some plants are light cycle dependent, so DTM may vary by region. they sometimes list items as "early maturity" for northern climates. some of their plants are originally from other countries, so their successive generations will acclimate to new areas. they do tend to very clearly label long season crops (central american corn, for example), so that people don't waste time trying to grow them. the russian/ north european varieties should do well for you, as they are short season. (i just got seeds for a russian watermelon as freebies in my most recent order. looking forward to seeing how they do)

I'm growing about 100 varieties of differing vegetables from Baker Creek on my 40 acre farm. Melons are my favorites to grow, so I've got about 20 types. I've grown the Jing okra, and it's very good and can get to quite a large size before getting too tough - but I decided the Alabama red is best for my area. the radishes can grow in as short as 18 days (18 jouer variety)... the Ozark Giant bell peppers taste like candy, and are very productive. the rampicante squash is fantastic, and also stores well. LOVE the licorice and siam queen basil. the alpine strawberries are small, but fantastic (taste like pineapples).
