Atlantic Gale Surfing: Chip is Not Impressed

The full story: http://savvysalt.com/blog/our-atlantic-gale-chip-is-not-impressed/ TJ was very impressed with the gale. Chip, not so much! I have a Firefighter/Paramedic friend who often says that much of his job is to sit around and wait for bad things to happen. Running in a gale is a lot like that; you're sitting on deck waiting for something bad to happen TO YOU! I haven't even finished going through all the video of this trip but I couldn't pass this up! Looks like a monohull? What were you on and were you sailing or motoring?

Hanse 575. This one actually: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1_PpIVxS3c We had 3/4 of the self tacking jib out and the engine running at about 1500rpm to push water past the rudder and help the auto pilot maintain course as we fell off the backs of the seas.

It's funny because in British English, saying someone is "not impressed' means they are annoyed, angry, disappointed. So I came to this expecting a guy freaking out, saying things like "YOU SAID THIS WOULD BE A CALM SAIL!". Instead I get a guy who isn't fazed by the 40kts or sea state. Just chilling. Two countries divided by a common language and whatnot.

Ha Ha! What does it take to faze this guy?

I'm pretty sure I don't want to find out...
