10 Most Insane School Rules In South Korea ► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/vHN6qB For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Most schools have the usual rules such as being dressed, showing up on time, and being quiet in the classroom. Usual school days are usually Monday through Friday, 8 hours a day. School break is during the summer and we all get a few months off to enjoy the sun and take a nice vacation. But things are not the same when it comes to other countries, and we found some strange rules in South Korea which might make you happy you don’t live there. Before we jump into the video, make sure you are subscribed and turn on notifications so you will be the first to know when we release a new video. Now check out these 10 strange school rules in South Korea. No Shoes - You probably know about the Asian tradition of taking off your shoes before entering a home. Well, the shoe etiquette goes beyond the house and into the classroom when it comes to students in South Korea. Strange Bathroom Rules - Like all the other schools in the world, to go to the toilet, you just have to ask for a pass to leave the classroom. And in many countries, the school supplies all the stuff like paper towels or toilet paper. But South Korea has a different system. School Uniform – The majority of secondary students in South Korea have to wear a uniform called a ‘gyobok’. From the start of middle school and up the uniform is strictly monitored and students must wear one. The uniform usually consists of a shirt, blazer, and tie, with skirts for girls and long trousers for boys. In addition to uniforms being standard, students also have standards for which they must wear their hair. The Five Year Teacher-Principal Rotation Cycle– Teachers in South Korea don’t end up staying at the same school as most teachers in other schools and universities in places like the United States for instance. After each five-year term at the school, everyone including the teachers, the vice-principal, and even the principal of the school go through a lottery-type system and have to change schools. Take Out The Trash – Most public buildings including schools in different parts of the world have their own staff to keep them clean. The only thing that students have to worry about is their studies. However, If you’re a student in South Korea, then you get to clean up the school yourself. Extra Lessons – When it comes to international tests, South Korea has some of the highest achievers. This is probably due to those 12+-hour Saturdays and other long days of study. For many students, a double-shift of school every weekday is a normal thing. Students attend classes from 7:30 AM, and then it’s lunchtime at 1:00 PM. At 5:00 PM school ends and self-study or special classes begin. At 7:00 pm there is dinner at school for one hour and at 8:00 PM self-study continues. Sleeping in class – One needs to wonder if it’s actually allowed to sleep during classes in South Korea. A survey was conducted that found one-third of students in South Korea sleep during class. In fact, it’s a normal thing to see 10-30 students passed out on their desks, and some fast asleep. No Homecoming Events – In U.S. High Schools, there is a dance at the end of the high school year called a promenade dance or as it’s sometimes called, ‘homecoming’ where students get dressed up nice, get a date and head to what many say is one of the most important and memorable time of the end of your high school year. Punishment – Every school has some type of punishment system for not doing what you’re supposed to be doing, or when certain people such as troublemakers or bullies need to have some discipline. A lot of different things can happen such as ending up in detention or worse, having to stay after school and write 1000 times Limited vacation – In most schools around the world, there is no school during the summer for many reasons. Some of those include the fact that it’s way too hot to sit in a classroom and do schoolwork, and who wants to be stuck inside during beautiful summer days when there are better things to do such as play on a beach or hang out with friends. And it’s usually the time when families take vacations. Most Korean secondary schools start at 9:00 a.m. and end at between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Many students usually go to private academies after school rather than stay in school. Schools used to provide students with dinner before self-study time, but now only a few schools do that. When it comes to school rules and extra lessons, they are much stricter in private schools & provincial area than in public schools & metropolitan area. The thing is that today's Korean students don't just follow the school rules but make choices and suggestions.

The "No Shoes" rule Is Stupid. South Korea Schools Should Ban School Slippers. Japan Has Banned School Slippers. And A South Korea School Rule Should Be Created: No Slippers.

As a Korean student living in Seoul, 90 % of this video about Korean school is not true. This video is based on the old information which disappeared in Korea long times ago. Totally bullshits. If you wanna know the reality of school in Korea, visit Korea in person, not just googling the wrong information. You are so pathetic and misleading Youtuber and i dunno how you were able to get 1.05 M subscribers with this kinda bullshit !!!

I teach English in south korea and alot of this video is incorrect. They get some things right, but most of it is over exaggerated. For example, school is 8:30 to 4:30. Kids live at home not in dorms. Also only problem kids sleep. The vast majority do not. The hair and makeup rules are different depending on school. This video makes it sounds like all these are iron clad rules but the only ones ive seen that are seriously enforced are the shoes and uniform. Also punishing students is illegal here. And most school around the world do not have the American summer and the school breaks are the same length as back home. They get one month in the summer and two in the winter. This video just straight up lies about the breaks. A little research goes along way.....

1. the 5 year rotation is only for public schools. (There are still a lot of private schools btw) 2. the toilet paper rule varies obviously for each school, but usually students bring their own rolls. (It's not like we have one roll for each classroom, we have to bring our own) 3. the title should show that this is based on our high school curriculum (and just like every other country, bits and pieces can vary for each school)

So many facts in this video aren't true... Not all Korean schools make students take a limited amount of toilet paper when going to the bathroom. Most schools provide students with enough sanitary products. Uniform and Jewellery rules differ, depending on which school you're in. NONE OF THE SCHOOLS IN SOUTH KOREA BANNS LIP BALM Only students in High school have extra lessons and are optional. Surely high school students in Korea spend about an extra 2 hour or so at school, but they have a lot of breaks between each period. You can say that there are fewer Vacations in Korean schools, but they are much longer. Some South Korean school cultures are different from the ones in America, but there are many other advantages that follow. Please research a little bit more before posting videos like this.

1. Taking off the shoes before entering one's house is not just an Asian tradition. It is practiced worldwide including here in Europe. Only Americans wear their dirty street shoes in the house. Very uncivilized, if you ask me. 2. Students cleaning their own school has also been a practice in Japan for a long long time. Maybe South Korea and Japan are the only countries in the world that do that, but South Korea is not certainly alone in this. In Japan, the students even clean the toilet. At least in Korea, they have a janitor to do this. 3. The long studying hours is normal for any boarding school in the world. It might sound weird to Americans whose entry to boarding schools are limited to the rich. 4. Homecoming/prom (a.k.a. sex night) is only practiced in the USA and Canada, and just recently copied by schools in the UK. No other country in the world, including South Korea, wants to have anything to do with this meaningless event.

Yeh homecoming in the US is a dance that you go to at the beginning of the year... this is not the same as prom which is a dance that’s at the end of the year... it’s the last dance of the year.... just saying that homecoming and prom are not the same dance at all... they’re almost the complete opposite of each other . ✌️

I currently live in Korea, and I'm a Korean student. Watching this video, I find out so many things that aren't real... 1. In now days, almost no schools have rules for girl's hair length. I've never cut my hair because of the rules. 2. Lip balms are allowed in school. Cosmetics that are intened to protect skin like suncream, lotions...etc are absolutely allowed. 3. Extra lessons: only highschool has extra lessons and almost all school ends at 9 or 10 pm. And students don't have to stay till then if they don't want to. For me, I'm not attending to extra class because I chose not to do it. Plus, studying in any facility till 12:00am is illegal in Korea. The school can't do that. Teachers do not stay and force students at the dorm. There is a shut-down time (usually 1am) which all the lights in the dorm goes down so that the students can fully have their time to sleep. 5. Students are not allowed to sleep in class. You get in trouble if you sleep in class. Still this depends on teacher but mostly, you can't sleep. 6. Corporal punishment is illegal. No school, absolutely no school hits students. 7. Winter vacation is long in S. Korea. (About 2 month) Spring vacation too.(1week and a half) only highschool has academic programs but this is also not forefully done. I wish u upload video after checking ur points correctly!

In Addition the invasion of EU by violent ISIS Moslems has prompted the "Brexit" exit from EU.

Most of what is done in south Korea is not a surprise to me as these is also done in my country well apart from removing of shoes and the evening special classes though we have evening classes that are mandatory from 2-5 pm (nothing special about them) and you are not allowed to sleep in class obviously. Punishment is not a surprising fact even if its hard labour. Oh and there is no home coming.
